Ok, we got some edu-makated drinkers around this here parts so I gots a question. Last night I was at a local winery's little shop and they had something new I've never seen before. "Unoaked Chardonnay" wine. I was flabbergasted. If you drink chardonnary wine, you'll know that the buttery taste of it comes from the aging in the oak. The gentleman working said that it's something fairly new in the last year, that they had gotten some requests and the winery started it just within the last year. It's some new "fashion". Has anyone else heard about this or know where this started? Have you tried this "unoaked chardonnay" and if so, how the hell does it taste? I'm kinda curious on this one but not enough to go buy some.
