ORIGINAL: colouredin Now this post was sparked by a few things here mostly a person specifying who they wanted to respond to the topic and it causing problems. So heres my question surely there are issues that only really relate to certain people the people who have actual experiance of it, why then often are we compelled to give an opinion ourselves when we learn by doing? I know opinions are valid and no ones is better really just that if someone asks specific advice how can you advise when you have no experaince. A friend of mine ran by me a scenario where the guy she was dating has been making comments more and more often about marriage (they have a child together already and have been on again/off again for years but are more on again). Anyway, it struck me that it sounded to me like he was "trying on his thoughts" much like you can't really tell how an article of clothing will look until you try it on, sometimes you can't know how your thoughts will sound or feel to you until you type them or say them outloud. Many times I have an inkling of what I my opinion is on a given topic, but when I let my fingers do my speaking more comes out then I had originally thought, so in a way, I'm trying on my opinion, seeing if it makes as much sense in the light of day as it did in the dark recesses of my mind. Other times I want people to debate with me as I may not have thought of every angle or I want an arguement to sway my original possiton.
