Tiger and Rocco need a 91st hole to settle things at Torey Pines...IMO the greatest exhibition of pressure golf ,considering the head to head nature they both finish at par,Tiger picking up the birbie on the par 5 to force the 91st hole 18th.......Mediate down 3 strokes early on in the back nine charging ahead to force Tiger's birdie... Rocco with one final chance at a 20 ft put to force a 92nd.....He misses...and finally the worlds greatest golfer playing with surgically repaired knee prevails in sudden death...Two seemingly classy guys given all they have it was great drama and my pleasure to watch......anyone else enjoy the show

Gotta feel sympathy for Rocco and the rest...

MAGNIFICENT!

Instead of my standard districting CM window open on my office PC, I had the Open on today. Thought it was over for Rocco, after 10. Thought it was over for Tiger after 16. Sorry to see it end. Amazing. It was difficult to pull for Tiger against a Piasan but I hope Tiger wins at least 20 Majors before he's done.

Great day for golf, and I hope Rocco gets a chance to play for the Ryder cup team, although it will be a long shot. He looked like he had a lot more fun than Tiger.

Can't wait to get home to watch the TIVO'd version on the big screen.

Tiger is beyond badass on the links, isn't he? At one time, I couldn't have cared less about golf, until I watched him in his final amateur match; he came from behind to win his third straight US Amateur title, and that's the first time I ever got excited about the sport.

Can't feel too bad for Rocco... I don't know his winnings but with a 7.5 million purse he will get a nice chunk I think... and auto invites to 3 other majors I believe.

Either ESPN or NBC has the whole thing on their website, sorry not sure which one was saying that because it was on both channels.

I loved watching them all 5 days, amazing the way the lead kept changing and Tiger kept pulling through when he had too.  Rocco was such a gentleman and good sport, it was a pleasure to watch.

I couldn't find the video oneither web site but found this:
It will be shown again--from www.espn.com:

TV Network: ESPN Classic
Didn't get to see Tiger Woods' 14th major championship victory? No problem. ESPN Classic will re-air the playoff from the U.S. Open starting at 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday.

I love you...(and yes, you're in the will).

peppermint -> RE: What an Open (6/16/2008 8:37:19 PM)

I'm a Tiger fan.  Never heard of Rocco before this weekend.  In the end I wished they would let them tie.  Shame that one of them had to lose.

bipolarber -> RE: What an Open (6/16/2008 9:15:42 PM)

The thing is, Tiger was just out of knee surgery less than three weeks before this? Rocco must really feel, although he only lost by a single stroke, to have been handed his ass... If Tiger had been his usual self, I doubt Rocco would have gotten so very close...

Still, probably the most exciting game of golf I've seen in fifteen years! They could make a Roland Emerich movie out of this one!

winterlight -> RE: What an Open (6/16/2008 11:06:44 PM)

ever see the tape of tiger and his dad on the Mike Douglas show? Bob Hope and Jimmy Stewart were there and coudln't believe how good he was at
such a young age. i wonder if UT has it on their.....
