Things went great until Grand started grilling him about his family history, which I'd banked on. What I didn't know until then was my Grand could swear!
My parent's son is a little wanna be aryan or something ... I don't let him around my kids cause they simply don't need to be subjected to that. Racism aside he's a wretched fuck of a human being and wants the whole world to join him in his misery.
On the other side Pain has been subjected to and shielded me from crap from the women of his family. My mother in law is a very imposing woman and while we dated she was of the opinion that a black man should not try to rise above his station and mingle with ... yeah this part gave her pause cause I don't identify as white, I identify as human ... ( you want to drive the census department crazy write that in on your form! ) ... but she still didn't like it. His aunts shared the same view to some degree. Time has mellowed most of that crap.
Should something crop up ... we simply deal with it, let it go and move on.

My best friend all through high school and college was an Orthodox Jew, with Holocust survivors in her family. Her mother was one of the finest people I have ever know -- taught me the true meaning of charity, among other things.
Eventually my friend moved to California, married a Puerto Rican, and dealt with very similar bullsh*t.
I tip my hat to people who have 'made it work' in the racist world we live in.
