The scent of lilacs brings back wonderful childhood memories for me, and many years ago, i could buy perfume that actually smelled like Lilacs from a department store in New York called Sibley's -- long gone now.

i looked for many years but never found another product with the real scent of Lilacs.

i just found another source.  i still can't find a perfume, but i did find a body cream that really does smell like Lilacs.

A/anyone else ever have to look hard and long for that 'special scent'?

Just thought i'd share my 'adventures in shopping'.

Wonderful childhood memories ... summer freshly mown lawn, hot summer's day, raking it up and having 'green snow' fights with the kids in the street, my dad yelling ... and laughing, watermelon dripping off the end of your elbows, the heat from the piles of grass ... the smell of summer

There is no expensive cologne that smells good on me.  I am a cheap date and do very well with Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche and Pierre Cardin.
I don’t care if you are Jo Malone, all that French shit smells like crap on me.  I have very sweet and acidic skin… my sweat used to peel the finish off my guitars.

For $200.00, Creed smells like a bag of lawn clipping on me.  I’d rather eat a 50 cent bar of Irish Spring (it makes the same scent claim) and exhale on people than wear that expensive French crap that boasts” Refreshing as a walk through the Irish countryside, Green Irish Tweed is one of the premier scents of the House of CREED.”

Speaking of the great outdoors, Pour Homme by Alfred Sung smells like a bad pine wood smokey campfire on me.  I’d rather be doused in Grey Flannel by Geoffrey Bean (which smells like old vinegar) and set on fire.

You’ll also never catch me in little men’s scented spa booties

the only perfume i wear is lalique. it's made by a crystal company... fucked if i know what it costs because typically it's bought for me by men in my life or family... all i remember is my grandfather handing it to me saying "i thought i know what the most expensive perfume is.... and now i do."

it's a light scent, not really floral, nor really anything that people can pinpoint. nothing else smells good on me, and the only other person that smells decent in in has the same problem as i do with finding scents to wear.

that and the bottle's really pretty lol

Cheap you may be RS, but I adore you anyway[:D]

I love most perfumes, but they don't last very long on me, even with layering. One that stays on longer is Clinique Aromatics Elixir, which is a warm, oriental floral. One of the most beautiful scents I've ever had was a perfume oil that was bought in a market somewhere in the Arab Emirates. It was bought for me, so unless anyone is going to the Arab Emirates, I'll never get it again!!

ps. Anyone going to the Arab Emirates, please email me[:D]

i personally prefer that a Man i date not wear any cologne...i want to pick up on His smell, which is a huge 'yes/no' switch for me.

i think many Men believe They have to wear cologne to be 'well-groomed' -- which IMO is unfortunate.

The first woman I was ever with smelled like roses. That smell always takes me back to that experience. I have searched ever since for a perfume that smelled like roses. No luck though. I did find a body wash at Target one time but haven't been able to locate it again since.

i have strong lilac memories surrounding my grandmother also. i can't say that i have searched to reproduce the smell in a bottled form. i have two perfumes i alternate wearing at this time in my life.. White Violets and Sung both were gifts from patients of mine. i will always have a bottle of Sung, it has a "i wanna fuck" smell to me.
butterflies are my "little joy".

may we all find our bliss one lil joy at a time.

There was this pink perfume called "Love's Baby Soft" that was THE perfume when I was growing up. Whenever I see it now, it ALWAYS takes me back!

GreedyTop -> RE: Little Joys (6/17/2008 6:03:13 AM)

my favorite perfume is called Fetish (go figure).. used to find it at Rite Aid, but now I think I can only get it online.

My great grandma used to wear some scent, no idea what it was, because when I smell it now, all I can think is 'old, old lady' (sorry, GG...)

years and years and years.....

My daughter got some of the Love's Baby Soft for Christmas. As soon as I smelled it, it took me back too.

pissthirstysub -> RE: Little Joys (6/17/2008 6:52:19 AM)

when I was younger, i wore "Sunflowers". I have never really wore perfume since, I am around too many sensative noses. Oh but Sunflowers! how it reminds me of Nirvana, Primus, awkward puberty, crushes.... i wonder if it is still made?

christine1 -> RE: Little Joys (6/17/2008 8:26:16 AM)

lavender does it for me.  but my favorite scents are put out by Aveda...very earthy, i love that.  probably has something to do with my dirt fetish.  [image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m16.gif[/image]

chamberqueen -> RE: Little Joys (6/17/2008 3:06:45 PM)

My favorite is sweet almond.  I looked for years and found some almond "milk" (light lotion) in Italy.  I still can't find any in the States.
