On a related note, do you consider skin care as part of your makeup routine or do you (like I do) consider it separate? Now for skincare, I have a whole she-bang that I do, with a specific line.

what line do you use?

LadyRainfire -> RE: What's Y/yr Make Up Style? (6/17/2008 7:51:30 AM)

Dermalogica.... On the pricey side but ohhhhhhhhh so worth it, holly. My skin is so damn sensitive and it's the only thing I can use knowing I won't react to it or that it won't give me chemical burns. And it lasts a long time so it works out price-wise.

PanthersMom -> RE: What's Y/yr Make Up Style? (6/17/2008 8:10:12 AM)

skin care: simple soap and water and whatever moisturizer i happen to lay hands on, around here we go thru lotion like water.
makeup: what's that?  we've been together almost 6 yrs now and i don't think cub has ever seen me with makeup on.  i should do it just to scare the hell out of him for halloween or something.

I solved the problem of needing to wear eye makeup so my eyes were noticable while wearing glasses. I figured the skin around my eyes had taken enough pulling over many years of applying and removing eye makeup so I had my eyeliner tattooed on. Never bothered with mascara again either. Have only been known to wear lipstick maybe 2-3 times a year. I hate the stuff cause it dries out my lips.

I thought it was going to be a thread about kissing & making up after a fight... soft & sweet or throw down & fuck like mad.

Mine has evolved from plain chapstick to some of the tinted stuff..
but thats only on dressy occasions. I put on actual makeup only when I have some sort of formal affair to attend or f I am modeling for photos that would require it. I strongly dislike makeup, so I dont bother

My skin care is a little more complicated, the skin on my face is the craziest! I have had to spend alot of time and energy finding things that give me the desired effect. Is also probally a reason I don't wear makeup either.

LadyRainfire -> RE: What's Y/yr Make Up Style? (6/17/2008 10:22:14 AM)

See, I'm the same way, PTS. Skincare, I go crazy over. In addition to sensitive skin, it's only a matter of time for me to get skin cancer. It's not "if" I get it but "when". My doctors agreed with me on that one. Too many sunburns, too much fair skin and waaaayyyy too much family history of it. So I fight it day and night. If there's something I can do to help my skin, I do it. Sunscreen, hats, taking care of my skin, I'm there..... Makeup? Ummmm, ya, maybe some lip gloss, ok? [:)]

christine1 -> RE: What's Y/yr Make Up Style? (6/17/2008 10:24:55 AM)

question to those of you who have sensitive skin like i do....i'm having a hell of a time finding a sunblock to use on my face that doestn' make me break out or give me a rash....any suggestions?  for now i'm using make up with an spf in it.

allcatsaregrey -> RE: What's Y/yr Make Up Style? (6/17/2008 10:27:57 AM)

I don't wear make up when I'm at home and I wear very little when I go to class, if any at all. When I go out, I like to do just a little bit  - moisturizer, foundation with SPF (I am very, very fair so I must have an SPF), highlighter and if I'm not too lazy, then eyeshadow and mascara. If I'm going to be seeing someone special or doing something significant I like to 'play' with my make up and try something new. I actually own and buy a lot of make up, but it hardly ever gets used.

I used to be very "Goth" in my early teens and did the whole 9 yards - every, single, morning before school. Looking back, I probably wore more make up than all of the members of KISS combined. [:D]

Christine, Dermalogica has a number of products for all different skin types..... And I've never had a problem with their products. Have you considered the baby products as well? Like the WaterBabies sunblock? That's what I use when swimming and I don't have a problem with it.

Oh, and since I see that I didn't send this like I thought I did.... Christine, ya got cmail.....

not meaning to hijack the thread, but LaTigresse you mentioned tea tree oil, i've just discovered that and i love it!  how do you use it, straight on the skin?

Isomers Isomers Isomers.............nothing else will ever touch my face.

I sent you an email that will hopefully give you all the info you need. They also have a sunscreen that works wonders on touchy skin.

favesclava -> RE: What's Y/yr Make Up Style? (6/17/2008 11:40:51 AM)

Right now I've dyed my hair red so reddish eyebrow pencil is a must, even on a day that I'm going au naturel otherwise. When I had blue hair, I'd use a dark greenish-brown on my eyebrows, and with blonde I'd actually darken them for some contrast. I'm a little bit of a freak about my eyebrows.

I used to try out all sorts of combos with eyeshadow, doing really artsy fartsy stuff with the blending... though lately that's saved for when we go out. My favorite combo is inspired by peacock feathers, with teal blending into purple. I only do it on the lid though... above the crease gets to be too much unless I'm dressing up for Alpha. Then it's full on lipstick, foundation, blush, eyeliner/shadow and mascara. Day-to-day I usually need black eyeliner because I have thick-framed glasses, but my skin stays mostly bare. lips get chapstick and that's mostly it.

I knew to expect clowns, but that was the most terrifying thing I have ever seen. My eyes are burning. My heart has turned cold. Nightmares are inevitable

chamberqueen -> RE: What's Y/yr Make Up Style? (6/17/2008 2:15:35 PM)

Most of the time, barefaced.  When I teach (I teach engineers, typically men) I wear eyeshadow (two tones, either browns or violets), tastefully applied eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick.  If I really, really want to doll up I use foundation - about twice a year, and blush maybe once a year.  (A lot of women engineers start to look like the men around them.  Since my name could belong either to a man or woman, I am often mistaken for a man before I show up with long curled hair, make up, and a dress - always a dress specifically so that I can show that someone can be both feminine AND intelligent!)

I think this is the same thing you are talking about ..Dermacia? i had been paying $60 a bottle.. and found it here for $18... this COMPLETELY covers scars ANYwhereon the body and will not rub OR wash off until you use soap. is good for the skin.

Hopefully it is .. maybe you can save a little$$$
