Mr Global Warming (Al Gore) apparently thinks everyone else needs to conserve but himself. His personal energy consumption at his residence in Tennessee is 10% higher this year than last year. Al Gore last year burned up 213,210 kilowatt-hours. That is enough energy to power 232 average American homes for a month.
And this 10% increase is DESPITE renevations that took place at his home which was supposed to reduce energy consumption.

“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,” said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. “Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.”

“Actions speak louder than words, and Gore’s actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity,” Johnson said. “Gore is exploiting the public’s concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile.”

Al Gore has recieved a profit of over $100 million dollars since he lauched his crusade against global warming.

I've debunked this bullshit story on here at least once before.

A big chunk of Gore's home electric bill is because he pays a premium to source his electricity from solar and wind. So when he consumes all those kilowatts he's actually putting his money into renewable energy.

But why not use an already debunked claim to try and score sme points? Maybe nobody will bother checking the facts. Oh wait that's right I always check the facts.

Here's one now!

Let me ask you a question, Ken ... how much money is filtering through Al hands due to selling "carbon offsets"?

So by consuming energy, you are supporting renewable energy?

Alumbrado -> RE: It's always fun to expose a hypocrite politician (6/17/2008 11:26:12 PM)

Why do you think they call it a 'Green Power Switch'?[:D]

JulieorSarah -> RE: It's always fun to expose a hypocrite politician (6/18/2008 12:40:46 AM)

I've done the reverse, my household had three occupants, now it has 1.  My energy consumption has reduced ... it's simple to say that kilowat hours have increased.  and how that energy can be used in other ways ... but there is not enough info here to make an apples with apples comparison ...

I don't know who or what Al Gore is but he is rather polarising ... you obviously love him or hate him!

jlf1961 -> RE: It's always fun to expose a hypocrite politician (6/18/2008 1:35:28 AM)

While I can honestly say, for the record, that I am not fond of Al Gore, however, it is a known and provable fact he is indeed paying a premium for renewable energy.  (yes virginia, you can pay outragiously just to get the renewable stuff)

Of course, being that he was in politics, and still speaks at political affairs, he has yet to admit one of the highest sources and causes for the global warming problem.....  ALL THAT DAMN HOT AIR THOSE FRIGGING POLITICIANS BLOW OUT!

Now that is settled, may I go back to my plan to bring on another ice age?  Global warming is eating into my stock dividends in winter sports related businesses.
