What action(s) do Y/you take to influence government action(s) -- local, state or national?

Why do Y/you choose that action(s)?

I canvassed registered Republicans to inform them of Ron Paul for the PA primary. I also contributed money to his campaign (the first time I ever gave money to a campaign) and handed out bumper stickers and pamphlets on his views.    I LOVE RON PAUL!!!!!!!

Edited for spelling.

I vote in Presiential Elections                                                    No not an American

I vote in Every Election -- on All Candidate & Issues        Yes, it's compulsory here

I am a member of a political part (tell U/us which one)       No

I write letters to elected officals about issues I care about   Yes, have done this once or twice

I write letters to the editor of my local paper                       Yes, on line, and the state one too!

I work on campaigns for certain candidates or a party         Yes, have done this once or twice

I belong to political action groups (tell U/us which ones)       No

I do not particpate in the political process (tell U/us why)     Actually I do.

Other (tell U/us what action(s) Y/you take                           Discuss and debate with others, to test out my own thoughts and views. If i can't substantiate my opnion ... it's still forming.  You can't complain about politicians unless you are part of (in some way) the political process!

i don't do a goddamn thing, i figure if i'm making a compromise on my major issues then i really don't care which one wins.

find me a candidate that is pro choice, pro gay marriage, pro death penalty, pro polygamy, pro ACTUAL seperation between church and state, AND WILL (not just says they will) find a way to decrease taxes on those that can't afford to pay them AND find ways to improve health care across the board, not just for any one group.

then i'll register to vote.

I have the local 'Democrats for Progress' group BEGGING me to take over their website, if that counts.  Since they can't pay, I haven't.

I'll get involved in politics more when I can afford to buy myself a politician.

I vote in presidential and local elections.  I don't really consider myself part of any political party.  I vote for whoever I think the best candidate is at the time (read lesser of two evils, as I think all politicians are crooks).

I'll write letters to the editor as well as to my Congressman and Senators on matters that I think are important.  I've also been a supporter of the ACLU for several years.

Let's see in the past I have worked on campaigns for those I have supported.  Democrat, republican and independant.
I've written letters to my congressman.
I'm part of our city council here...never miss a meeting.  There are open seats coming up in November..and I'm being urged to run.

Last but not least I think the presidential election is a sham and the American people need to educate themselves.  Too many Americans have no clue.

Not interested in any of it really.

And, honestly, even though I can vote, I won't. Why?

Because I don't believe anyone that doesn't keep up with all the political mess should have a say at who the next president is.

My level of involvement has changed over time.  Until and including the 2000 election cycle, i was active in the local party and campaigned for state and local candidates, such as Insurance Commissiooner, Govenor, a couple of judges and some  particular propositions.

i walked parades....i leafletted (what a pain in the azz).....i stuffed envelopes, etc.

This election cycle i don't even feel strongly enough to call the party and ask for a sign to put in my yard in support of a candidate.  The Democrats took over state government here in 2006 and have proven to be just as corrupt and inept as the Republicans they replaced.

i belong to a few political action groups.  Some -- like The Human Rights Campaign (a gay rights' organisation) offer me no way to participate apart from making contributions, which i have done but cannot afford now.  Others, like the Smokers' Rights Group, have a variety of tools they use to keep me posted on pending legislation and provide easy access to my elected officials.

There are other causes i care about but the most prominent PACs are not appealing to me:  the ACLU, AARP, NOW, etc.
