LOL... okay, how many non pro dominant's got a visit from any of these people saying they did a search or study or survey or anything of the like.  I dare say, I don't see any of these nick's on my page.  There are a lot of pro's on this site... but there are also a lot of dominant women who are not pro's.  And if one is going to do some research and consider someone who sells toys as a pro dominant... well... that just speaks to me of a slanted research.  So if I sell stories about bdsm, does that make me a pro dominant?  lol okay!

When you get bombarded with submissive males wanting a play toy mistress to make all their dreams come true... are we to think that all male submissive's only want that?  Okay... my email box tells me that that is the case... Hell, there are even the male dominant's that make an appearance and don't forget the married one's or the 'I can't do 24/7 at this time'... yeah and you never well unless you dump the wife!

We can all get attitudes around here based on our experiences... but some of this stuff is just silly!  Calling someone publically, that sell's toys, basically a whore... professional dominant... someone owe's someone an apology if nothing else.  Does it make it harder for a male submissive to find a dominant because there are pro's out there... I am sure it does... but doesn't the non pro domme have a harder time finding a male submissive with all the males seeking a mistress play toy... oh yeah!

Get real...

Dang it!  Sorry about that...

DDlover -> RE: It seems............ (6/18/2008 3:49:08 PM)

I do not think that asking a simple question can in anyway, shape, or form, be considered whining. I thought I was asking a perfectly legitimate question of like minded adults who shared my interests. I did not intend to be offensive in anyway, however, I will not be taken to task by small minded individuals who have no tolerance for newcomers to the scene! I asked a simple question and I get bludgeoned for it? I hope I never need real help on here, I won't know who to turn to.
I appreciate all of the people here who chose to answer my question, be it yay or nay, with respect. The others? Take a walk!

I would like to apologize for saying that part.  I was combining past post in my mind and contributed this to this thread.  I tried to correct it but it wouldn't let me edit my post.  So... I am sorry I added my take on how many treat professional dominance as a sexual service and blended it here.

Are you using your posistion in this lifestyle as a way to make money?  Not that I am saying it is a bad thing by any means at all, in fact I find it admirable, but the fact remains you are selling "toys, clothing, maybe even services" admitedly I have not checked out the page entirly, for profit...which by all sense of the word makes you a professional.

So anyone who has ever made any money doing anything related to BDSM or sex is a ProDom/me?

I suppose that would have to depend on exactly what they did to make the money now would't it?

Yes, it would. So does that mean the answer to my question is yes or no? Do you think anyone who has ever made any money related to sex or BDSM is a ProDom/me?

Obviously the answer is no. That was never the point. The point was are there more pros here than not????

The answer to that question is IMHO yes.

No, it wasn't the point but you used it as your argument to support your point.  Specifically you stated that since poster A sold sex related merchandise, she was a pro and  therefore there are more pros on CM than not.  Right?  Please correct me if I am wrong, but this is how I understood your argument.

Lockit -> RE: It seems............ (6/18/2008 6:01:58 PM)

How does one go from someone selling sex toys to maybe selling services too?

TNstepsout -> RE: It seems............ (6/18/2008 6:26:12 PM)

A small sampling in my area produced the following results.
23 Dommes between the ages of 18 and 99 with pictures in profile seeking male subs.

2 were seeking tributes
1 stated she was a pro
1 was seeking financial domination

1 had no written profile

18 had no mention of money or tribute of any kind.

From this limited sampling it appears that fewer than 25% are seeking money, therefore I would say "no" in response to the original poster.  A larger sampling might produce higher results but I doubt it would exceed 50%. IMO

That most of the female Dommes on here are professionals, which sort of cuts out a persons chance of finding a Domme women on here for an LTR. Do you feel that is an accurate statement?

No

BossyShoeBitch -> RE: It seems............ (6/18/2008 6:30:43 PM)

Let me just add this....
NO!

Wolfandkitten -> RE: It seems............ (6/18/2008 7:33:16 PM)

To those who decided to make it a point to prove that my "poll" was unofficial:

First off...I never said I was a professional census taker.....never claimed it was an accurate result...i just picked a total of 20 female Dommes from anywhere and any age and posted my personal results.

I just thought that it was funny that the very first two responses were from Dommes...one an admited pro and another who professionally makes money of of this lifestyle. I was corrected by that person for my statement and apologized. I never said at ANY time that being a pro was a bad thing. I never even said that too many pros were the reason the OP couldnt find what he was looking for, in fact I made a reference to quite the oppisite.

Fuckin ditto...having an opinion one way or the other can really cause a shitstorm in this place.

Lynnxz -> RE: It seems............ (6/18/2008 7:42:05 PM)

Eh, I think everyone jumped on the OP because his post resembles the weekly "OMFG I GOTTA PAY HER TO STICK IT IN MY POOPER?!" threads. This one isn't so much whining as he was asking about the pro-nonpro ratio.

beargonewild -> RE: It seems............ (6/18/2008 7:49:23 PM)

Maybe the question is over the fact that the OP met a few Pro Dommes thus assuming that most on here are Pros seeking money or tribute? It seems to be lost in the shuffle that it takes time to find the Domme or Dom who is right for you (general sense) and along the way a person will come across professionals.

MissMagnolia -> RE: It seems............ (6/18/2008 7:52:25 PM)

I think a lot of people mix up Professional Domme with professional prostitute. They are VERY different things.

And to answer the OP, no.

It has nothing to do with having an opinion and a great deal more in how you express it and the information you use to back it up. The original question was "does it SEEM as if there is a greater percentage of Pro's here?"  That is an opinion question. What you did was to state your opinion as if it were FACT and then used a very poor argument to back it up.  No one went out of their way to pick on you.   You made yourself a huge target and said "come and get me".  So we did. Maybe you like humiliation? *shrug*

DDlover, i'm not sure what You mean by a 'professional female Domme' nor do i have any idea how O/one would survey all CollarMe Dommes and Mistresses to determine the percent that are 'professonal'.

Rather than attempting to reach any general conclusions about all Dommes and Mistresses here, i urge You to focus on Yr search; self-awareness; self-improvement; polite introductory emails; and so forth.

Wikipedia defines a 'dominatrix' as:

A dominatrix (from the Latin dominatrix, meaning a female ruler or mistress; plural dominatrices or dominatrixes) or mistress is a woman who takes the dominant role in bondage and discipline, domination and submission or sado-masochistic sexual practices, which are commonly abbreviated as BDSM. The male equivalent is Master. A common form of address for a submissive to a dominatrix is "Mistress", "Ma'am" or "MaƮtresse". Note that a dominatrix does not necessarily dominate a male partner; a dominatrix may well have a female submissive.

Professional versus lifestyle dominatrices

The term dominatrix is often used to describe a professional dominant woman (or pro-domme) who charges money to engage in fantasy play with submissive clients. In reality most dominatrices are not professionals, but lifestyle dominants. A lifestyle dominant is a person who is assertive and in control of their relationships both inside and outside the bedroom. Women who engage in female domination recreationally are known as Dommes, Dominatrices, or simply Dominants. A high percentage of dominants are lifestyle dominants, but some simply play the dominatrix role because it is a high-paying profession. It is common for professional dominatrices who are also lifestyle Dommes to have both paying clients and a "personal slave" or slaves, who are not paying clients. A personal slave will typically perform a Domme's housework and run errands for her. A personal slave may or may not live with his or her Domme. Professional dominants most frequently do not engage in any form of sexual contact with their paying customers, as this can be construed as prostitution in some places. Outside of their life as a pro-domme, they may engage in sexual behavior with a devoted slave, or not, as they choose. A common form of domination involves chastity where a dominant controls her slaves' sexual access, sometimes keeping them locked in a chastity device except for rare occasions.

The stereotyped image of a dominatrix is of a woman wearing a rubber or leather catsuit and thigh-length boots with high heels or, in a more elegant and teasing mode, black lingerie, stockings and high heels, or some combination of these two alternatives. Many professional dominatrices do indeed wear similar outfits for their work in order to meet client expectations. However, for non-professional dominatrices, the question "What does a dominatrix wear?" is best answered "Whatever she likes!"

i think You are probably facing a mathematical disadvantage -- so M/many P/pl have posted here that male submissives far outnumber Dommes and Mistresses numerically that i guess i have come to accept it as an article of faith.

If You see a Domme or Mistress profile that appeals to You, i suggest that you write a pleasant introductory email which includes a clue that You have read Her profile, not just looked at Her profile picture(s).

i wish You much success in Your search.

If your point is exclusively lifestyle Dommes are rare and special...well, yes... we are. [:D]
