It's a fair question (I'm certain of it).

Why?  How come?

Why do Philly Cheese sandwhiches taste like shit when you're not in Philly?  I've been in Times Square, I went and got a Philly Cheese Steak sandwhich...and it tasted like shit.

How come when I open a can of mixed nuts, the Brazil nuts are on top?  (Someone explain that....please).

How come I never have enough time?

(I think those are fair questions).

i dunno about your questions but i tried making coffee cubes for my iced coffees and they came out sticky.

Oh, god...

If you shake mixed sizes of stuff, the smaller pieces tend to fall into the interstices formed by the larger pieces. With more shaking, the larger pieces end up migrating toward the top as the smaller ones work their way underneath. But this is a good thing in a power outage, since you can light the Brazil nuts like little candles.

And you never have enough time because... (I'll just stop there).

I think it might have to do with the air. I cannot say for certain, but I do believe the air in Philly has a much different, um... quality... to it than the air in NYC or any where else. This is not to say that the air in Philly is bad, just different. The qualities of the air in Philly may mix with the sandwich elements during preparation to give it that unique and special flavor.

Of course, this is all simple speculation, but it makes sense to me.

In a word, settlement. When the can gets shaken during transport and handling, the smaller nuts fill the void between the larger ones. Since the Brazil nuts do not weigh a whole lot more than the smaller nuts, continued shaking of the can will cause the smaller nuts to push the larger nuts out of the way.

You can do this yourself in a glass jar. Put some Brazil nuts in the bottom, then cover them with smaller mixed nuts. Gently jiggle or shake the jar and after a while, the Brazil nuts will rise to the top.

My explanation may be off base and without merit, but I've observed the stratification of nuts into layers via that experiment.

What the fuck is falafalafalflal anyways?  Is it like dirt mixed with sausage or something?  Some kind of Philly stuff that sits beside your eggs and toast?
