You can do this yourself in a glass jar. Put some Brazil nuts in the bottom, then cover them with smaller mixed nuts. Gently jiggle or shake the jar and after a while, the Brazil nuts will rise to the top.

Was this part of your nutty recreation of an American Pie scene?

Like I stated... I sometimes have way too much time on my hands.

:-D

(It's like some kind of hash brown thing...but it's not actually hash browns...it's like some foreign, landing from Mars thing...which isn't actually hash browns....but it isn't actually something that resembles anything from this planet either....it's like a hash brown, sausage, fatty, something grabbed from the curb, reconstituted, road kill, page 2 kind of thing).

What the fuck is it actually?

lol. it's okay i'm sitting here trying to come up with a way to describe polyamory so someone who just got out of high school will understand what i'm saying without actually using the word polyamory (it's a long story, there is a reason why i can't use that word specifically)...i've been sitting here for the past half an hour...

Try: Sometimes people have more love and attention to give than is needed by just one person, and so they find more than one partner, each of whom fills a different need in their life. Everyone is not treated the same, but they are all cared for and they get their needs met. Not everyone is wired for monogamy, and when all involved are honest and practice good communication, multiple partner relationships can be just as healthy.

Hey, don't overthink it. I sure didn't. Just say it's like a threesome on steroids and elaborate from there. At least the concept of more than two people gets communicated right up front...

that's essentially what i wrote. i was supposed to clarify it but i think it's just going to stay like that. i have a feeling that it's going to be struck as too controversial anyway but i have to try anyway.

Well, based on my frequent experience eating falafels, the balls themselves are ground chickpeas (or garbanzo beans, depending on what part of the country you're from) mixed with spices and parsley, then rolled in a ball. I think they might be fried after that. They are very tasty, and available either on a plate with Mediterranean salad and stuff, or in a wrap with assorted veg (pickled cabbage, lettuce, tomato, onions, peppers, and pickles are common) along with garlic sauce, tzaziki, and sometimes hot sauce.

Hehe, I was just amused at the idea of explaining a very complex set of human relationships to an 18 year old with probably little or no significant experience in ANY kind of relationship (not that 18 year olds can't be mature, mind you, but that still doesn't make poly easy to understand without some experience).

yeah but that's the point. that's what i'm attempting to examine as compared to an older group of students.

LadySeraphina02 -> RE: Why? (6/18/2008 7:37:22 PM)

While I don't see most 18 year olds as prepared to go out and successfully BE polyamorous, I would say most can understand the concept just fine.

Sure, but can they understand a thread that blends falafels, brazil nuts, Philly cheez samiches, and poly into one integrated whole? I mean, even I can't grasp that...

Well sure, 18 year olds are always hungry anyway, and they'll need even more food with all the poly action. :D

fluffypet61 -> RE: Why? (6/18/2008 8:00:19 PM)

i grew up in the Philadelphia area and two of my favorite foods are cheese steak sandwiches and scrapple.

i have since lived in several places and this is what they do to cheese steaks:  in Oklahoma they put it on a sourdough roll and use American cheese - in West Virginia they put it on a French roll and add lettuce, tomato and mayonaise.  My memory of a cheese steak sandwich is an Italian roll, thin sliced (minute)steak grilled and chopped along with onion and green bell pepper and topped with provalone cheese.

Scrapple is a pork (and pork byproducts) breakfast meat that has corn meal and seasonings most notably sage.  It comes in a loaf and you slice it, fry it, and pour a little maple syrup over it.  The brand seems to make a difference, too.  i prefer the one in the red and white package.
