It's much closer just to pop up to California. Almost next door.

You can visit Cali in the booming metropolis of Fresno. It's really nice this time of year.

Yikes, I lived in Madera for a few years. I still have nightmares......

ETA - Visit Cali - YES. Summer time - bad idea.

(My youngest monster was born there. Yes, I survived a pregnancy through a full summer there.... Amazing, huh?)

I have a small news flash... we have this thing called electricity in Fresno... which powers this thing called air conditioning.  And we have this thing called water... which they put in these things called pools.  And our cars have these little switches that say A/C on them which blasts cold air at you.

Cali

The house we lived in just had a swamp cooler. I will never have a swamp cooler again in my life, I don't care how many praises someone sings about it. And Cali dear, there may be electricity, pools, water and air conditioning there but that still doesn't change the fact that it's 115° F (which stands for F**KING HOT) outside!  Can we discuss visiting in the spring or fall? Please?

Spring occurs every year from February 2nd at 7:30 am until February 5th at 10:45 am.  Then it gets hot.  Fall... hmmm... fall... what's that again?

Cali

Rain....ditto on the central valley. i spent many a summer in Stockton as a child with my grandparents and lived with them for 2 years while my parents went thru a messy divorce. i also lived in Modesto for a couple years, after i left home. i don't see myself moving back there anytime soon, but then i have learned never to say never.
