We're hoping RS will fall asleep first and then we'll take pictures of him in compromising positions. *pervs RS's profile* Ahhh crap, I don't think that's humanly possible. Oh well, perhaps we'll recolor his hair with black magic marker while he's ~~passed out~~ sleeping and take pics of that.

I think you're going to have wonderful fun. Bear in mind cj's going to have his hands full organising this so maybe some useful tips for onboard behaviour.

He'll be immensely proud of his "crew" and so it's a real compliment to him to look your best - elegant high heeled shoes, stylish clothing (and don't hide it underneath ugly lifejackets).

Assuming you go out for a sail, remember he'll have his hands full so try to keep together in the centre of the cockpit out of his way - a good safe place is in a group in front of the wheel.

If it's too crowded in the cockpit (I don't know the boat length) you could go onto the coachroof - you'll be nicely out of the way and the boom is a handy comfortable place to lean and keep steady.

Sailing is all about fun and cj'll probably tell you some rattling good yarns. Naval tradition has it that you give advance warning of jokes, so if he calls out "watch for the jibe" listen carefully for the humourous jape. And of course if you have a funny story call out "jibe coming" beforehand.

One of the standard problems skippers face is keeping the various taps from jamming; if you look in the various cupboards, under the sink and in the loo, you'll find several little taps. Turning these on, or off, keeps them from sticking and is the kind of quiet little favour much appreciated by skippers who have endless maintenance tasks to do.

Boats like cj's are special enough that you're unlikely to be seasick. But if you do feel a bit "uncertain" in the stomach, a good cure is to face into the wind and let the breeze run through your hair to freshen you up; so two golden rules - face into the wind and stay near the side as well just in case you "erupt".

One funny thing about sailing is the special language! All the ropes have different names. You can please him by NOT referring to the rope you're holding as "the rope". The ropes used to tie the boat up are halyards ("haul it into the mooring with the halyard"). The ropes (or often wires) for holding up the mast are sheets ("soft sheets support" the mast) and the ropes for controlling the sails are the warps ("winding in the sails with the warp"). So it'll help for example when you're ready to depart for you to say "Shall I release the halyard now?" instead of the pathetic amateur "Shall I let go of the rope?". The ropes used for binding submissive crew are called ropes btw.

SunDude, that was cruel...hilarious, but cruel. ( Especially the helpful advice about repositionin taps )

Btw, I, sadly, am currently boatless. We will be going out on a friend's boat. I suggest bringing the high heels in a ditty bag for wearing in the prone position, legs up and waving. ( Not you, RS, boat shoes will be fine, dude. )
