Knowing does not necessarily lead to doing.  Horse, water...

True enough.  However, knowing is the predicate to the doing.  Have to start somewhere....

Are you really sure that is the way it goes, I dont see anything in there about lie to the people.......

quote:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

Now wait a minute, I know for a fact there has to be a part that reads "take as many kickbacks as possible and hide the money, as well hire prostitutes, screw women in the office......

quote:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

Now that one I remember!!  I took that one....

But I have a question, if the politicians are disregarding the constitution, who exactly is supposed to defend it?

At the risk of starting an argument again, how does Pelosi being part of the ACLU mean that she knows her duty?  They  claim  to protect people's rights but when push comes to shove, they just want the big money cases or the ones that get them in the news.
Too often, they turn down real people with real issues that they claim to help.  In one particular case I know of, they told a woman that "her rights could not have been violated because she was white."
Pelosi is about as useless as a sack of flaming dogshit on the neighbor's porch and less funny.

I should have been clearer, Pelosi is a member and major supporter of the ACLU. I've been a member for a long time and have consistently come across her name on rights issues.

As to your anecdote, the ACLU has a limited budget and limited manpower they simply can't take every case. I highly doubt the rest of the claim.

I don't.  The ACLU is far from a perfect organization.  Like many bureaucracies, they tend to their own orthodoxy which hampers their effectiveness.

However, what they do imperfectly is better than having nothing done perfectly.

You can doubt the truth all you want.  The woman was my sister in law and they told both her and my brother the same thing.  I'll believe my brother on this one.  His track record is a hell of a lot better.

Sure... to defend the status quo, and serve the PTB.

Oops... you meant their official duty.

Sorry.
