OK, a week and a half ago it hailed here.  It did 3500 in damage to my new car.  Since then we've had rain...not a lot but here and there.
Normally I love the rain and the hail..however it started raining a half an hour ago.  The rain guage says we've gotten an inch and a half and we have golf ball sized hail again on and off.
Unfortunately we are re-doing our sun room....and the tile saw is out in the garage along with all the tiles....etc.  I can't put the car in there right now.

Just a rant...hail damage is getting old after I heard this area hadn't had any in the last 30 years.  Why now?  Why my car?

Its the end of the world. Hellfire and whatnot.

Or else the vicious consequences of using aerosols and petrol all willy nilly.

Damn, golf balls? And here I was bemoaning the fact that it has been lightly overcast here for two mornings in a row.

Could be worse, if a tornado had picked up your car it would have totalled it!

Other than that, just bad luck. Or global warming, or is it an El Nino year?

There is the possibility that global warming is partially to blame for the increase in severe storms across the plains states, which means more thunderstorms, and all that go with it.

However, since there is nothing one can do about the situation, all you can do is file a claim with the insurance company, build a carport over the driveway, or purchase one of the kevlar awnings like the car dealers use.

The other alternative is (trust me, I have seen people do this) stand outside during a storm and rage against the weather.

I do not suggest the above, sense injuries during hail storms can be fatal, not to mention that the powers that be have a stupid sense of humor and you may get zapped with a bolt of lightning.

Now, if you follow my philosophy, it wouldnt matter.

You see, I have owned my share of new cars in the past.  Every new car either gets dinged in a parking lot (result of the new car magnetism to shopping carts and careless people,) storm damaged in some way, and one was even totalled in my driveway (teen driver lost control of 1 ton pickup and drove across my lawn at 50mph, did a number on a vette.)

So, I have given up on new cars, own an old jeep cj with a cammo paint job of various primer colors, which in the five years I have had it has not gotten dinged, dented, or damaged in any form, except by the occasional hail storm, and if you know a bit about painless dent repair, it is easy enough to fix.

Yes, I am aware with global warming storms will be less frequent and more severe.
On the upside everyone in the entire town gets a new roof.  Even those who just had a new
roof put on last year.
Dings, nah I have more than a few.  I have 88 to be exact.  What is odd is I have a greenhouse with nothing
more than a fiberglass cover on it...not a single hole.  Yet the metal took the beating.
My neighbor has two very old cars....42 and a 56 both were totaled by the insurance company..they didn't seem to fair the hail as well as the new cars.
