Possibly heresy, but I have been known to share my glass of wine with a sub-puppy... pouring a bit into his dog dish... watching and listening to him lap it up ... [8D]

I don't drink alcohol until after the scene. I know how it affects me, and I am not interested in taking chances. It CAN be enormous fun to get the bottom slightly snockered and giggly, but that all depends how the alcohol affects the person. Know your risks, and act accordingly. I refuse to play with someone so intoxicated that they can't even judge their own physical reactions anymore.

I'm sure My opinion is already in one of those links provided by LA. There's a huge difference between drinking a glass of wine with dinner before an evening of play and being intoxicated to the point where your judgement is impaired. Like a lot of other things, you have to use your common sense and assess the situation. Personally, I won't drink if there is any form of edge play. If it's something as simple as a light flogging, I think I'm probably good on one glass of wine.

I've always been a "Cheap Date" - as in two drinks and I'm tipsy. So... if there is going to be any pain involved in the scene there will be ZERO alcohol. If it's just a "Service Me" scene and I'm in the mood to drink, then he better keep my glass full. He isn't allowed any if I'm going to need a ride home. (It's SO much easier to play at conventions!)

LOL Ms Starlett, I'm cheaper ... I have been described as a "One pot screamer!" (Yes it's true but did My nurse friend HAVE to reveal that to My class of students when I'd invited her in to do drug ed? I never lived it down! [&:]). So alcohol is a no no for Me as a Domme and as a sub too as i don't want to miss one bit of the sensation! Master doesn't like alcohol either ... the closest We come to using it is when I put red wine in the pot to cook a silverside ... so it's not something I concern Myself with at all. On a more general note, when We ran play parties, We had a policy that responsible use of alcohol was OK. By that, if someone just came to socialise for the evening (and some did) then it was OK for them to BYO and consume it. That was done in the supper area, the kitchen or outside in the smoker's area, NOT in the dungeon. However anyone who was thought to have consumed too much to drive home would have their keys confiscated ... and the use of the bondage bed or the medieval rack once the party ended [;)] That never had to be done. Those who were there to play were encouraged to play first and drink later, or be very cautious about the amount drunk before play. Only had to caution one couple re playing in the case where I felt the bottom was too inebriated to give informed consent and the Top thought the better of it once it was mentioned. So while not being a drinker I am not a wowser ... but all for safe and cautious use. Maam Jay aka violet[A]

Used to enjoy a glass or two during a scene, or immediately before or after. Gave it up. It never resulted in any dysfunctional scenes, although I do belive it affects one. It affects one, period. Not for Me to judge on whether it's advisable or not for this person or that person. They have to make up their own minds on the subject. TM

I learned the hard way on this one, so unless it's one glass of wine while something low-key is going on (having my feet licked, being massaged), I skip it. Mss

Dear Aimtoplease101, Ladies and Gentlemen; I personally do not drink any alcohol, wine, spirits and or liquors; as I do not wish to; and I do not wish to condone the practice as a mentor/teacher/instructor and or as a seasoned lifestyler. I take it on the personal slant; that if I cannot control the 'spirits' then I shouldn't be controling live individuals with their spirit. Discipline as far as 'self control' is important; to which I much prefer being in control of all my faculties; and the top of my skills when I do participate in a scene. As well, as there is a proper time to partake of the grape and only then would I even consider it. I also prefer those who serve me; not to drink or take drugs, even over the counter drugs before a scene. I want to work with the existing body chemicals humans possess; not the additional manufactured and or processed injested drugs; be it legal and or illegal. Personally, I am attracted to people with like mind; to which they control themselves and not let drugs, alcohol, etc.; control them. Just some thoughts. I don't understand why anyone would want to drink before a scene. I guess it is a control issue with me. I don't touch people that have been drinking. I will not try and judge anyone that does drink and then scenes with someone. To each their own but it isn't something that I would do.
