Well it appears the GOP is reaching new levels of ingorance.

As a fund raiser for the GOP convention they are selling pins with the following statement]

"If Obama becomes President, will it still be called the White House?"

They started selling the pins in Texas, where McCain's supporters are saying it's just a "funny" way to raise money.

Funny, really.  Not many people are laughing

For those messageing me saying this is BS, well it's been covered by CNN, MSNBC, CBS and even FOX

Not many people are laughing? I am and as a Texan I think thats just funny as hell! Did it say where ya can get them? Im going to buy some for friends, neighbors, clients, etc... [:D]

saskslave -> RE: How low will they go??? (6/20/2008 4:02:11 AM)

I'm suspicious of this.  If this was at a Democrat (the party of George Wallace, Bull Connor, segregation, Robert Byrd, Al Gore Sr) fundraiser, then it would be more believable.  But from the party of Lincoln?

Do you have any proof these buttons exist?  I could only find one source for this; a blog at the liberal Dallas Morning News with an obviously photoshopped pic of this button - and we all know that the liberal MSM will lie and make up anything to help the neocommunist Democrat Party get into power.  Who could ever forget 2004 when they tried to foist forged documents on the public?

Indeed, I went to republicanmarket.com and found the "Press 1 for English. Press 2 for Deportation" and "I will hold my nose when I vote for McCain" buttons, but not this one.  Hmmm.

LondonArt -> RE: How low will they go??? (6/20/2008 4:07:52 AM)

This story has been misreported somewhat in the OP. Those pins were on sale, by an unaffiliated merchant at the Texas GOP convention it's true. What they've neglected to mention is that he was kicked out for doing so, been told he's not welcome to sell anything at any future Republican events, and the money he paid to lease the stall at the convention has been given away to charity. So it's hardly as if the sale of the pins is in any way endorsed or condoned by the party.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: How low will they go??? (6/20/2008 4:08:14 AM)

Actually, your claim is BS.

From CNN:
quote:

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – The Texas Republican Party is telling a vendor who sold campaign buttons it considers racist at a state convention over the weekend that he's no longer welcome.
The head of the Texas GOP says they will "neither tolerate nor profit from bigotry."
The buttons asked, "If Obama is president … will we still call it The White House?" Jonathan Alcox says he was trying to be funny, and based the button on a political cartoon. He describes
himself as an independent who may vote for Obama.
But the Texas Republican Party doesn't see the joke. Besides banning Alcox from its future conventions, it's alerting the Republican National Convention about him. And officials say the $1,500 vendor's fee he paid to sell at the state convention is being donated to Midwest flood victims.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/06/19/vendor-of-controversial-button-banned-by-texas-gop/

You should read the full story before making ignorant claims.

They never mentioned that in any of the stories on any of the news, you'd think 1 news outlet would have reported the whole story

Why should they start now?  Show me one place where the news tells the whole story without trying to politically slant it.  I doubt you can.

Know what would have been funny? Well not funny for the closed-minded bigots, but who cares what they think?

A play on "Chocolate City"...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocolate_City_(song)

"Chocolate City" is a song by the funk band Parliament, the lead track of their 1975 album of the same name. It was also released as a two-part single, the first from the album.

The song's largely spoken vocals (delivered by George Clinton) express pride in "Chocolate Cities", that is, cities with a majority black population. The song also reflects on the solidarity of African-American society at the time. The singer playfully hypothesizes what it would be like if there was an African American in the White House...

And the Cabinet

Owner59 -> RE: How low will they go??? (6/20/2008 10:32:40 PM)

GOP delegates and republican convention goers were wearing "Purple Heart" decorated ~band-aids~,to mock John Kerry`s military service in '2004'.

This of course, was just after the swiftboat ass-clowns did their character murder on John Kerry.

This ugly act was planned by and widely embraced by the rank and file of the GOP and never rebuked or criticized by GOP leadership.

It was pretty low and repugnant and shows the class of the people running the party.

Birds of a feather, flock together and republicans for the most part, walk in lock-step.

This is only the beginning. It`s going to get bad.My hope is that the bigots will back-fire on the GOP.

There are sections of the republican party that can`t/won`t fathom having a non-caucasian as president of the United States.

There will probably be nothing left un-said,no insult or incrimination not made, nothing taboo. What do the swiftboaties, bigots and neo-cons have to lose?

cyberdude611 -> RE: How low will they go??? (6/21/2008 5:24:39 AM)

I've heard this said by comedians before long ago...it's not a new thing.

How low will the GOP go?
Are you fucking kidding me?

These bastards swift boated a 12 year old for saying how much the S-CHIP program helped him and his family when he was recovering from an auto accident.

There are the same assholes who called Congressman Murtha's patriotisim into question... the same Murtha who lost limbs in the Korean conflict!

Republicans are well known for thier gay bashing of Sen. Frank.

Republicans, who are led by "Go fuck yourself." Dick Cheaney.

Republicans, who started the KKK.

The Republicans, whom you can find photos of prominent members of that party, posing with Saddam Hussein, back when they were insturmental in keeping him in power?

Would these be the same Republicans who say that the Obama's "knuckle bump" at the final primary was a terrorist "gang sign?"

The same Republicans who keep the rumor mill running with the lie that Obama is secretly Muslim?

The same Republicans who refer to Michelle Obama as "baby mama"?

The same Republicans who just gutted the Constitution by eliminating habeas corpus, a sacred right bestowed upon free people by the parliment of England over 1200 years ago?

The same republicans who have turned the US into a torture state, with extraordinary rendition, black prisons, and who hold people without trial or charge, for six years? (and counting)

Those Republicans?

Let's just say, if the Republicans were to find themselves in a sewer, they'd need an extension ladder to get up that high. Calling the GOP a party of craven political bottom feeders would be an insult... to bottom feeders.

thishereboi -> RE: How low will they go??? (6/21/2008 7:52:19 AM)

You forgot one.....

There are also sections of the democratic party that can`t/won`t fathom having a non-caucasian as president of the United States.

Racism is still alive and kicking in the US. It's a shame, but there isn't much we can do, but pray it gets better in the future.

Now, leaving race totally out of this....Why should we vote for Obama? What exactly can he do for this country?

bipolarber -> RE: How low will they go??? (6/21/2008 8:40:19 AM)

Reason #1: When he swears on a Bible to uphold the US Constitution, he won't be lying?

Reason #2: he's NOT a Republican. That alone puts him several steps up the evolutionary ladder.

Reason #3: Do you really think, with the recession, gas prices, floods, tornadoes, fires, and bridges collapsing, with the war in Iraq spending $2 billion a month with no real progress, with gas at $4+ a gallon, with the lower and middle classes shouldering the bulk of the tax burden, witheducation going down the drain, with other countries leading the way in stem cell research, and the sheer BULK OF LIES we've been fed for the last eight years... (actually more than that if you include both Bush I and the Reagan and Nixon years)... can the US afford a third term of George W. Bush?

Reason #4: Do you really want to be in  Iraq for the next 100 years?

Reason #5: Do you honestly believe that "no child is being left behind?" Google "push outs" and tell me what you think.

Reason #6: there are three supreme court justices who would very much like to retire, but who are holding back, just to make sure the GOP (let's just call them "sith lords" for accuracy) doesn't get the chance to pack the court with creeps like Roberts who want to take away women's rights to their own reproductive systems, roll civil rights back to pre-1968 levels, and insure that onle old white men with tons of money get justice.

Reason #7: There is no reason seven!

Reason #8: If there's another natural disaster, I'd like someone other than a semi successful horse breeder in charge. (In fact, I'd just like the government to show the fuck up!)

Reason #9: I'd like someone who's foreign policy does NOT include the phrase "You're either with us, or against us!"

Reason #10: I want a president who does NOT owe a ton of favors to the oil industry, or a hundred other special interest groups.

Reason #11: If there's a crisis, he'll get off his ass, and put down the fucking copy of "My Pet Goat."

Come up with your own... it's fun! It's almost as fun as coming up with those stupid "You might be a redneck" jokes, or lines about Chuck Norris. Except in this case, you'll be waking yourself up to how evil this GOP administration is, and how undervalued the dems are... you'll feel better.

Bipolar, it's not "sen" it's congressman Barney Frank and it wasn't "gay bashing."
He was taken to task for letting his live-in lover "Hot Bottom" run a gay escort service out of his Georgetown home while claiming to be "ignorant" of it!
It's the same as if any other straight politician had a live-in girlfriend who was running an escort service out of their homes and claiming to be "ignorant" of it.

I'm fairly well versed as regards politicians from Massachusetts.

Republicans, who started the KKK.

Interesting statement.  Where did you find that bit or is it just wishful thinking?  Bigotry is bipartisan.  I bet you'll find a lot of Democrats whose hands were in the founding of that group as well.
I'd love to see facts showing that the kkk was created by the republican party.

cyberdude611 -> RE: How low will they go??? (6/21/2008 2:43:32 PM)

bipolarber,
You do know that during the Civil War, the GOP was AGAINST slavery. It was the Democrats (especially Democrats in the South) that were in favor of it. Remember also that Lincoln was a Republican. The Republican party did not found the KKK. In fact I would dare to assume most KKK members back then were Democrats.

Republicans also favored women's sufferage and the Democrats did not. When Susan B Anthony tried to cast her illegal ballot in 1872, she voted straight Republican. Practically all the early feminists were Republicans.

Democrats have always historically been the party of establishment and big government. The GOP has always historically been anti-establishment and anti-government. Also the GOP has historically been the anti-war party. Practically all major wars in US history (other than the Iraq wars) were started when a Democrat was in the White House.

bipolarber -> RE: How low will they go??? (6/21/2008 3:10:15 PM)

Finally! I finally say something that gets these people's goats! Christ! (And it turns out that it only has to be something as obviousl fake as the "Obama is a Muslim terrorist lie!"

Now they squeal like stuck pigs...
