pinksugarsub -> Y/yr 2008 Summer Reading List (6/20/2008 10:03:10 AM)

Do Y/you have a summer reading list?

Here's mine:

At least one well-written 'high brow' book (ya, right, like that's gonna happen, LOL).

True crime.  Ann Rule is my favorite author in this genre.

Erotica.  i already love Anais Nin and might re-read some of her stuff, but i'll find new stuff too.

The odd recommened book from a F/friend that piques my interest.

There's more, but that's my basic list.

Mind You, for me, it has to be a real book -- not a book on tape, an e-book, surfing the 'net, etc.  i like the tactile experience of holding the book and turning pages and so on.

i'm gonna be limited to what i can get for free from the library, but they're okay; just a bit shy of anything 'adult content'.

What's on Y/yr list?

Right now my pile of unread books includes:

David Farland's RuneLords book 3-7
Adrienne Martine-Barnes: The Crystal Sword, The Rainbow Sword
Terry Brooks: Wizard at Large
Tracy Hickman: Mystic Quest
Tanith Lee: Saint Fire, A Bed of Earth
C.J.Cherryl: Destroyer
John Bradshaw: Family Secrets
Jude Fisher: The Rose of The World
Leslie Ellen Jones: Metaphors of Celtic Paganism
Silver RavenWolf: Solitary Witch

As you can see, I have a short reading list for the summer, ROFL.

fluffyswitch -> RE: Y/yr 2008 Summer Reading List (6/20/2008 12:15:07 PM)

anything on the subject of dental health i can get my hands on (though i've already been to  the ER and am healing up nicely)
anything on santeria/vodou/afro-latin diaspora religion that the grad library has in the stacks
laurel k hamilton's newest novels
some manga-any manga i haven't actually read any
re-read the kite runner for work
anything BUT wikipedia-i found a soc article literally cut and paste as someone's 'orginal' post, no citation, nothing and the editing job they did on it makes it sound like something i could have written as a high school freshman

spinninsweetness -> RE: Y/yr 2008 Summer Reading List (6/20/2008 12:17:16 PM)

I get through a book every two days so I dont list.

My summer reading has eclipsed summers for awhile now. (If only I could be as organized!) I have big plans though, big plans.

I have Dick on the mind (PK that is) and have VALIS and the Three Stigmata of Peter Eldritch to read. Might then go back and read the ones i have read before, I love Dick[:D]
I also plan to finish Ain't I a Women and Feminism is for Everybody by bell hooks
Memories of My Melancholy Whores by Marquez
hmm maybe i should turn off the computer.
