Just looking for opinions on the development of relationships.. BDSM or otherwise. As listed below...

1st) Love without knowledge (wow she's cute, or wow I like her way, or his butt, or his laugh)
2nd) knowledge without love (taking a step back from what you eventually felt about the person, and re-evaluating it with the new knowledge about the person as far as compatibility)
3rd) and maybe eventually....love with knowledge. (If after processing all the widespread thorough knowlege about this person makes you fall more in love with the person at least as much as initially, but supported now by facts and a history)

This is from mike meyers while promoting his new movie...

True or false?  All thoughts and opinions welcome

LOL Mike Meyers huh?  Then that makes sense... but I'll play along. lol  For me... love is far more and a first viewing (knowledge) of someone might be attraction, but it isn't love.  False for me.

I gotta quote this because I agree.
I'm soooo not a 'love at first sight' kind of person. At first sight I just see an individual and I judge everything they do based on what I do or do not like, then weight those things even if I feel a twinge of like toward them. Then it takes some time and some hardcore convincing for me to ever fall in love with someone.

I only wish it were as easy as those three steps! :P

1) False.  I can have lust or attraction without knowledge; but not love.  I might suspect that I'd like to fall in love with the person, or be in love with idea of being in love with the person *L*- but not actually BE in love without knowledge of that person.

2) True.  That lust or attraction can, and often does, change based on the information I find out about the person.  I can lose interest in somebody based on what I learn of their character or ethics...on the other hand, I can actually learn positive things that lead to #3.

3) True.  Has happened to me in the past- and it's an incredible thing when everything works out.

Well Mike became interested in Deepak Chopra and eventually became good friends with him in his personal life and then he developed the character and movie from that.  So likely what he's talking about is a slice of what Chopra tends to discuss.

I think it's a good map and what often does happen.  But like all systems, it tends to be a much more dynamic one with all levels operating simultaneously, repeating eachother, blending together rather than just a 1, 2, 3.

Why do we create a false dichotomy and then think we have solved a real issue when we allow the dichotomy to co-exist?
Just a thought on dualiostic thinking you know:
male/female
black/white
old/young
fat/thin
looks/knowledge
The point of pointing out that  there could be two routes is merely to illustrate that there is one road.
