Sundowner -> RE: Swearing (6/21/2008 11:02:13 AM)

Of course those of us who are pure (and somewhat angelic  [image]http://www.collarme.com/htmlarea/smileys/0450.gif[/image]) don't swear at all. We say things like "Gosh" and "Oh dear" and even, occasionally, "How very annoying".

fluffyswitch -> RE: Swearing (6/21/2008 11:26:51 AM)

i swear too much and too frequently. my mom told me once that i swear like a sailor. i looked at her and said that's funny cuz i was raised by two of them. i'm way too rude, crass, and aggressive for my own good but i clean up nice i swear lol.

i'm fond of the work frak right now. as in what the frak just happened. okay it's a total BSG rip off but i can say it at work without getting in trouble. actually i can say it at both my jobs without getting into trouble. double points for the frak!

Then there are those of us who say things like "fruit loops" "cupcakes", "blast", "slime it", "drat", and other strong Victorian language....

but Rain...you said always drop the f-bomb when you talk to me...

I really never swear much. I tend to favor the phrase "oh drag" to express disappointment or annoyance. It is pretty mellowing, and actually does make me feel better to say. Changing the definition of words to fit the words one would rather use irritates me, like fudge instead of fuck, sugar instead of shit. lol I guess people not swearing. I usually try to avoid the movies that get "edited for television". Although if i heard someone use fruitloops, cupcakes and slime it, i would be laughing too hard to be annoyed.

[sm=flying.gif]  I really mean them exactly as they are, PTS. Even though they're older now, I have 3 monsters and refused to swear around them. I didn't use the words in place of fuck, shit, damn, cock, cunt, or any other word meant as a swear word. I know, I've been told I'm a goody-two shoes. I'm working on that.... Lumus is helping corrupt me.

oh no! it's just that fruitloops, cupcake and slime it are cute substitutions.

She is but a saucy lean-witted mumble-news!
Thou art a whoreson and a rough-hewn malignancy!
Let me at that ruttish lily-livered measle!
Thou droning shag-eared crutch!
He is naught but a hideous boil-brained malt-worm!
Thou unmuzzled tickle-brained rabbit-sucker!
Thou lumpish, eye-offending baggage!
Ah, but she is a ruttish earth-vexing apple-john!

Sincerely,

E.

It's a well known fact of science that women shouldn't have access to the remote; they don't change channels frequently enough, and stop on the wrong ones.

One substitute for "fuck" that cracks me up is one used on the Something Awful site: "gently caressing". [:D]

cjan -> RE: Swearing (6/21/2008 4:31:40 PM)

Correctamundo, mon frere. I mean, what's the use of having 100 channels if ya can't, more or less, watch at least 50 of 'em at the same time, with an adroit manipulation of the remote ?
