Obama is sure the repubs are going to play the race card.....isn't that like playing the race card in reverse?

I dunno, he may be right. the politicians may not be the same but I've heard my republican classmates playing the race card (and we're at a college with 51% african american students!). Fixed, I mean Fox news already has, and unfortunately, too many people watch Fox to ignore them completely.

No, not unless no one has ever tried to play racist politics against him until now... are you seriously going to pretend that hasn't already happened, and won't continue to happen?

Great article. Thanks for posting the link. In a nutshell, Obama says we need to fear Republicans because they want us to be afraid.

Fucking brilliant, Barack...

I guess his teleprompter must have broken down again.

Riiiight... because none of those 'scary' people like Obama have any rational basis to expect racism to ever occur...[8|]

i'm confused...are we playing poker, or Uno...oh wait!!! Spades, right?[8|]

psst...[sm=whisper.gif] the answer to your question is NO...
Waking up as a black man everyday is a fact of Obama's life...and people noticing and focusing on his being black, is also a fact.  We don't live in some magical land where people don't recognize race.  Perhaps the official statements made by the RNC will not address race, and many repubs will not have race be an issue, but it's safe to say that some supporters, some organizers will use race as a tactic in swaying voters without sufficient cognitive skills to use the issues as a sole basis in choice.  Shameful, but true.
On the other hand...when i ask African-American people Obama's stance on an issue is...and they don't know, then i ask...well why vote for him?  i get looks of outrage and disgust.  One,(the racist slant used by some against Obama that basically uses his being black as reason enough to demean and villify him) is based on racial hatred, but another is based on racial preference...neither is a good enough reason to choose a candidate.  However, using the fear and prejudice of un-educated ignorant people as a campaign strategy is nothing new (Catholic Kennedy), and so Obama shouldn't expect to be treated with kid gloves. Politics is a dirty business.

Who said anything about "racism"?

Oh, right - you and Obama did.

Yeah. Shades of Jeremiah Wright. "Whitey over there - you just know he's a  racist, don't you. "

As the OP pointed out, that itself is racism.

You're correct, I think. The racists on either side will cancel each other out come November. But a problem exists for me in that Obama has pledged to run a different kind of campaign, yet here he is stooping to name calling and fear mongering and blatant race baiting...

You'll have to excuse me, but he's opening himself up, openly inviting this criticism. People keep saying "focus on the real issues" but what is Obama and his campaign focusing on?

Not "the real issues" at all. Where is the man's substance?

housesub4you -> RE: And so it begins..... (6/21/2008 8:26:33 AM)

I think what Obama meant by "running a different type of campaign" is one where the Dems actually win and take office

True.

This is a RNC produced/financed ad.

I like the point about the RNC being the biggest recipient of political donations of porn producers.lol fuck`n a,leave it to the party of god and chastity to have such a distinction.lol

I think he's got some pretty good handlers who did a pretty good job of painting him up to look like a combination of Ghandi, MLK and JFK - handlers who cringe whenever he goes off-script like this.

So now the racist  'He's so scary' verbage, as well as the racist diatribes against Obama about his 'terrorist' black heritage, and the racist 'they all look alike' excuse for the 'Koran swearing in' slander etc. came from Obama

I call BS.
