"until I was deprived of her company"

Hmmmm,didn`t love America?

Taken out of context,McCain`s often repeated theme ~ that he really didn`t love America till after becoming a POW~
sounds pretty horrible.Michelle spoke only of pride, and not about love of country.

But will McCain`s contention that he "didn`t love America" blunt the right-wing/FoxNews/neo-con`s assaults on Michelle Obama`s character?

I like what Laura Bush said in reference to the bugaboo.Thank god, there are at least a few folks over there with some class.

If that legendary tape actually shows up, it will depend entirely on what it looks like, O59.

McC's statement is easily spun into taking all the blessings we enjoy for granted, and while Michelle Obama's "never proud" gaffe is harsher, it can be filed in the same drawer.

If there really is video of her in an angry rant, though, that is going to be a big problem.  "Feisty" will only go so far as a defense.

Here is an article on just one of a group pf sleazebags whose sole intention and purpose is to sling mud and manipulate the sheeple. They exist in both parties, of course. They exist because they have proven to be effective in influencing an uniformed and easily manipulated electorate.

I'm glad you mentioned such groups exist on both sides, Cj, because the New York Times certainly didn't bring up any of the places Soros sends checks to.

This will be a rough season for the attack-dogs on the right.  The Dems are holding the race card up like a Draw Four Wild in a nasty game of Uno.  If the Republican 527's go a whisper too far, the anti-rascist backlash could cost them the election, but the battle of the emails and YouTube videos cannot be conceded.  Can they adapt?

As many have said here, I hate the sound-bite/quote-out-of-context form of "news" reporting.  It very much reminds of my my kids when they were 3.  One would singing Row Row Row Your Boat and get to the "life is but a dream" part and come running "she said 'butt' she said 'butt'."

I'm ready for nothing but a presentation of what both candidates stand far -- pick which is closest to what you want and go vote.  Both are pretty good guys.  Both seem to believe in their issues and platform.  Both have reasons for what they believe.  I'm pretty sure neither is perfect and that both have made mistakes and misspoken on more than one occasion.  Those types of things are hardly what an election is about.

Personally I prefer Obama but I don't think McCain is evil or stupid or even totally wrong about everything.  I have reasons for my choice and I'm sure that people that prefer McCain have reasons for their choice.  Let's stick the the issues, listen to facts, think and choose.  Period.

When people say "both sides" do this or that,...it blurs the distinctions.

While most people exceed the MPH limit and there for are law breakers and be called speeders(technically), it`s the one`s that drive at over 30-40-50 and 60 mph, that are the criminals and the true ass holes that put us all in danger.

I think it`s ok to distiguish between the two and not lump the leadfoots in with the NASCAR drivers.

Same with politics. While all sides fall down and do/say some dumb things, there are some things that are just off the scale and downright criminal.

Saying in response to events like the swiftboaters or Rove`s attacks on McCain`s character that "all sides do it", is a lame response to an outrage and muddles the record of who did what.

This "they all do it",while technically true(see speeding analogy) kind of places the true assholes in with the rest of us(see speeding analogy).

There`s a differece between 5 and 10 mph over the limit and 100 mph over.

The truth is,there is a difference and the distinctions should and will be pointed out,in spite of the mediocrity.

Two words, O59.  Forged documents.  I'd say that is doing 120 in a 35 zone, wouldn't you?

I agree with the "both sides" points you bring up.  I think the two parties are different and make my choices accordingly.  I am saying I wish we would filter out the petty things that get reported in the press that are truly silly things that both parties do.  Now if there is something discovered that was actually illegal (even if 'everybody' does it) or something that defines a particular candidate then I want to know it.  But if the item the newsies want to talk about is just another round of something trivial being made into a major news item then I don't want to hear it on every news channel every 15 minutes as though it were some news breaking event.  It's not any different to me as hearing the latest update of some "newsworthy" event regarding Paris Hilton.  I would rather hear actual news over some sensationalized trivial event used for nothing but selling air-time.

Demonizing one side with generalzations is about as useful as saying both side "do it".
