pahunkboy -> pollen/sinus - allergies, season 2008 (6/21/2008 9:21:40 AM)

Hello.  Pollen has been terrible here. I almost wonder if I should go to an allergist.

The other day while on my bike, I went to 3 stores to buy pseudoeffedrine to gain breathing clearly.   The 3rd store had it- [the reformed ingredient doesnt work for me]  Anyhow it is a national rx store - who I wont name.   They refused to sell to me as I did not have a drivers license for them to "swipe".  I had a library card, a debit card. So I told them my DL #.  Nope.  It has to swipe.  SO I asked if they could deliver it to my home.  Nope...it has to swipe.

By now I am mad!   For months I did not need a licence to buy lipitor or frankly many rxs.

Anyhow I dab vapor rub near my nostrils.

Does the new formula work for you?   How do YOU deal with this??

You have my sympathies pahunky. Somehow I got lucky and escaped having any allergies.  The closest I get would be sinus headaches and infections, I do use the typical OTC stuff that you mention and personally haven't seen a difference in effect.

For the last 15 years or so I have taken a shot of kenalog...in the spring..

Needless to say I suffered most of my life with allergies...tried many different remedes...

This stuff worked wonders for me...

Its very inexpensive...and only given once a year...

Ask your dr...

<sneezes and spits>

Whoops...

Ew. You sneezed on my ice cream sandwich!
Now I can't eat it [&o].

Do you want it pahunk? [:D] It may make you feel better since it's ice cream.

my only piece of advice, which i probably shouldn't give you, lol, is try to find a small to mid sized grocery store. the one that i used to work at didn't have a system to monitor who was  buying the psuedo, it would just lock up at three or more boxes at any one given time. this was a year ago though so i don't know if that's changed or not, i would almost think that it would have had to.

I live in the ragweed state and I definitely sympathize with you.  Have you thought of trying Claritin?  That has helped me a little bit in my allergies and causes no drowsiness.  This year, I have had two sinus infections, which are lousy and had to take antibiotics.

i got a script from my doc for nasocort - a nasal steroid spray. I don't have to use it every day anymore, and it has gotten rid of my post-nasal drip (thank goddess)!!!!
I also use a neti pot periodically.

Hayfever is awful and I've been sneezing like a bitch all day.

However I cant help with your actual question as I have no idea what you mean. I just get generic anti-allergy pills, one a day ones, as and when I need 'em.

I find the cheaper the brand the better they work. Currently got two weeks supply (BOGOF) for £1.49.

Wish I liked honey cos thats supposed to help.

The need for a license is because pseudoephedrine is now tracked by the government.  Folks looking to cook up meth used to buy very large amounts of the meds as one of the ingredients.  There should be a sign in the pharmacy telling what laws this comes under (Ohio restricted sales and required government issued ID when S.B. 53 was passed back in 2006.)

They need to see the ID to check if it's valid.

It's a pain in the rear if your sinuses crash and there's no pharmacist on duty.  Best to keep some on hand.

Uh, I have a proper license that they can swipe? How do you drive to the store without a license? If there is some reason you dont have a license - doesnt PA have a "Non Driver ID" We do here in Texas, the DPS issues "Driver's Licenses" and "Non Driver ID's" and I have one of each...

Also, dont you have any friends who have licenses who can pick it up / bring it home from work? I always keep Sudafed, the real one ie "pseudephedrine HCL, USP" on hand because of the SCUBA diving or flying I do. I never sign for it though... usually I just have a friend who works at Walgreens bring it to me. Or I get a doc to call me in something better...

he all.   The neighbor lady gave me 14 tablets.  :-)  I love when I get along with neighbors.

You know how farbagle said slaves have papers, not people.  The kicker is I cant go back "with" my driver license.  This chain, but a different store called the law on me....  anyhow- I swtched pharmacies a while back- as I wanted one I could bike to.

Scanners done always work.  Some states do not have appropriate ID design.

Sorta irked me too, no place to chain the bike and "no bikes" signs on premises.

I love it when traffic is backed up, and I fly right thru to do being on bike.  :-)

i too have the allergy thing almost year round  until it gets so hot here most things die . Use Ocean sprays to get the stuff outta your nose  . pills and shots do very little to help me , one day i hope for a allergy relief nasal transplant .zertek has worked the best for me this past  bout  but i also think its just the newest thing .
Dont cha love the fact that you have to register  just to get  allergy meds now like a criminal , cuz of those jerkO meth heads ..

SeeksOnlyOne -> RE: pollen/sinus - allergies, season 2008 (6/21/2008 3:20:28 PM)

best thing that ever helped my allergies was moving in to a house with no carpet, just hardwoods.    its amazing when you see the stuff that is tracked in and just accumulates on a daily basis.
