soul2share -> RE: How much do you pay weekly for gas? Can you afford it? (6/24/2008 8:56:46 AM)

I have a scooter, and also use the bike/bus option....yes, even in the heat! My gas cost is probably between 6-8 bucks a week, less with the use of the bike. And it's already paying off...the bike, that is! I've lost 6 lbs in a month, and haven't changed anything but adding the bike. If I need to do a large amount of grocery shopping, I call a cab, otherwise I can get what I need on the scooter with a backpack. My friends ask me when I'm getting a car.....I'm NOT! The scooter works fine for me, I have no car payment, insurance on it is dirt cheap, and it's good on gas....about 75-80 mpg. If I really feel the need for a road trip, I can rent a car. My family is on the east coast, so driving there wouldn't be an option anyway....even on vacation.....it's 3 days one way to drive it. People at work are spending more for gas to get there than they are on child care and groceries....seems like they are working just to pay for the gas to get there!
