This has probably been discussed prior to my coming here and if so, proudsub can kindly direct me to the thread. But being a curious bug, I'd like to know how you chose your nick (screen name) for CollarMe.

I'm from the south and am shaped somewhat like a dumpling (plump, euphmistically so). The University of Southern Mississippi has a dance team for sporting events called the Dixie Darlings. Those of us who went to other schools called them the Dixie Dumplings. I like words and funny sounding combinations, so chose this as my nick here. I've also had a bowling team called the Dixie Dumplings (as well as Pinch Me and Coulda Fell).

I checked my birth certificate....Sherri was right there. Since that ID is already taken most places, I've added the initial of my surname to it. Now i have people calling me sherria, which is damned hard to pronounce.

I use Sherri or SherriA most places, but alt wouldn't allow either of those, nor would ICQ, so in a moment of rare creativity I came up with the ID "sadiemasokissed" for those places.

I still prefer Sherri.

I am a guitar player. Of the six strings on my guitar, E string sounded the best. I had thought about G string, but that might have sent the wrong message. I could have used A string as my name is Al, but it's too late to change now. I am Estring.
Kind of a boring story isn't it?

Years ago I had a nick that allowed for a good bit of anonymity. I started meeting people online often enough that they knew my name (Suzanne) and then, upon seeing them in a chatroom or other social setting they started calling me MsSuz (rather than type the entire name out). It didn't take long for people to start calling me that in person. MsSuz and Miss Suz and MzSuz were taken. MizSuz was available and I've been using it ever since (everywhere).

I don't recall another thread on this, but i have only been coming to the boards since about Feb.

My nic started with my online dom. I was so proud to be his that i started using it at the cam site we used to go to together.

I spent a year as a cyber sub under a variety of names I tried out, one day in my doctor's office I was reading a magazine and the word shoshin lept off the page at me. The definition of the Japanese word is "beginner's mind" to remind me that no matter how much I know, I am a beginner at something. I started using it online & kept it when I transitioned to real time. It has been with me for around 5 years and is more comfortable than my birth name, Shoshin fits me like a favorite silk blouse. When I moved into switching I added the Lady as I always try to be a lady even in fet gear. I didn't want to be presumptious and use Mistress or Goddess etc, Lady seemed more appropriate. I have included the characters for the word, someday I would like them tattooed someplace they can only be seen when I am in fet gear.

If you don't want it to be really obvious, you might want to consider a cutting. I have a few, and the ones without ink aren't really noticable unless I point them out to people. Even then, i often have to *smack* the skin a time or two to really make them stand out.

I really like my cuttings for that reason - they're subtle and sort of like my little secret, even when they're in obvious places (after they've healed, of course). I have the kanji for "harmony" cut into my arm and no one notices it even in short sleeves, unless they're looking for it. The same with the rose I have on my chest, just below my collar bone - no one would know it's there if I didn't point it out to them, but once they've seen it they always notice it.

The cutting on my leg has tattoo ink rubbed into it, so it stands out just like a tattoo, but with a different sort of look from tattoos.

I did not really care and went for the first descriptive sentence I thought of. I had others that probably have a profile attached out in cyberland. In case I included a face shot I won't say what the other names are. (A face shot can ruin my "vanilla" life faster than any disease.)

Hello,

I played a role playing game with the character name of Synergy for years. I picked that name since I love the Taoist ideal of synergy; things working in harmony. Then I had to make another character, so I maintained the S*nergy motif and picked Sinergy
since it was closest sounding to Synergy.

Then I discovered there is a company named Sinergy, and you can buy a candy named Sinergy, a soap named Sinergy, etc.

Then I got involved in BDSM, and the obvious connection of SINergy to WIITWD made what name I should go with obvious.

Sinergy

I've been using mine for about four years now. At first, I liked it because it sounded unique., and because it is my goal to pervert the dominant paradigm.

Now I'm contemplating changing it becaues the first thing a lot of people asks is "how perverse are you"

Mine comes from my original name Red Feline. Which was derived from my passion for Siberian tigers. Contrary to popular belief, it's not for my hair. At the time, I wanted something different then "tiger" which was already being over used. Those who have known me for a while usually call me Red. And of course I have others.

Take care,

My current nick was chosen as an experiment, to see if having some variation of 'master' in the nick made any difference in how one is perceived on the site/how many contacts one gets

was originally MstrMrW - chosen because it could stand for either Master MrW or Mister MrW (my initials being M R W), and it is one of my screen names on AOL

chose Thanatosian because 1. I had recently finished rereading Piers Anthony's On a Pale Horse from his Incarnations of Immortality series - the main character of which is Death, which in Greek is Thanatos, 2. having lost my last 2 subs to Death, it seemed fitting (to my macabre sense of humour), and 3. lately I seem to have become somewhat obsessed with things related to dealh - particularly things with skulls on them (although I had wanted a skull shaped mug ever since reading Heartbreak Ridge {Clint Eastwood movie}, where the senior noncom has one ["you're going to come into My office and slurp lifer juice out of My own mug?" "you're right, I better get some shots first"]) - and also lately there have been a lot of weapons made available with skulls or skeletons or bones as part of the design, and I collect weapons

anyway, this is all probably TMI

dixiedumpling, i adore your nick. Such a great blend of cute, soft, sweet, with a bit of spice and cadence.

LadyShoshin, a more literal translation of the two characters would be "initial/beginning/etc. heart", which is somewhat distinct from the many many words for "mind" and "will" and such deliberate processes. Forgive the linguistic purist here-- i thought you might find "heart" more resonant with your spiritual side.

As for myself, basia is plural "kisses" in Latin. sub rosa literally means "under the rose", an idiom which indicates secrecy.

My name was chosen by my Dom. Somewhat of a joke name. Also nobody would know who I was here when I started out.
I've always been anti abuser. He has always said a sub can hire me to abuse the abuser...so hence the name.

right now i call myself myri {SN}with myri being the short version for my name, my master didn't like my real nickname mimmi. SN stands for SirNeedles. the username sbmssvkitten, which i got here, is over 2 years old, i started using it after my online collar came off, ( i know online is silly but...) i love cats hence kitten and thought the thing sbmssv was a good idea as i decided not to hide behind a screenname anymore. on all the new forums i joined in the last year i use myri{SN} now as everyone in the lifestyle that i met rl knows me under that name to.
