We lose our water. [&:]

Had a lightning strike on one of our trees that dropped two others, domino-style, finally ending up on our well pump. Spent 2 hours cutting wood in the dark just to get to it. REAL glad it didn't fall on the house.

Anybody know a hardware store that's open at 11PM on a Sunday? [:-]

Damn, what a stroke of [un]luck.

Do you have the above-ground-in-a-small-enclosure type or the submersible type?

we are in the same boat...minus the tree. The pump for our well runs on electricity so when the power goes out we are in a bit of trouble. Thank goodness the pump is in the basement so we do not have to worry about falling trees.
But now that i think about it..the last tree that fell (thanks to a micro-burst) crashed through the kitchen window and smashed the sink. We had to turn off the water for over 24 hours.

We also have a submersible pump.  No trees around the well.  When our electricity goes out so does the pump so no water.  I'm looking at all options to remedy that....I think solar is going to be the way we go.
We have a portable generator already...won't power much but it would power the pump.

hope you have water soon, if not already.

lightening struck the main water treatment plant in dekalb co yesterday morning, right outside of atlanta.  the entire county was without water for most of the morning.  at least once you get "service restored", you wont have to worry about drinking it.

man i miss well water.....and im glad i dont live in dekalb county

good luck
