CalifChick -> George Carlin, RIP (6/22/2008 10:38:47 PM)

George Carlin passed away today at age 71, of heart failure.

My first memory of him was his "Seven Words You Cannot Say on Television."  He was truly a great, ground-breaking comedian.

Oh man, I didn't hear about that.  I loved his last comedy special on HBO.  Damn that's a bummer.  RIP George.

       A brilliant comic light has gone out.  I guess God needs a good bellylaugh.

Definately one that will be sorely missed - those who've come since him have mostly fallen short of the mark.

ownedgirlie -> RE: George Carlin, RIP (6/22/2008 10:57:38 PM)

Wow.

I literally gasped.  What a loss.  [:(]

George gave us so much insight, wisdom and humor.  Rest in peace.

My favorite was the Hippy, Dippy, Trippy Weatherman who quoted a temperature at the airport but not knowing why he needed to do that since people don't live in the airport!

He was a great observer of life, RIP, George.

celticlord2112 -> RE: George Carlin, RIP (6/22/2008 11:20:58 PM)

Awww.....crap.

A lot of laughter just left the world.

angelicbitch -> RE: George Carlin, RIP (6/22/2008 11:33:40 PM)

WOW.... What a loss.. He was a hoot... my brother and I own most of the stuff he has done. I have a cd he did that talks about the "fake" bikers that have their bikes trucked into Sturgis South Dakota... always made me smile that he mentioned my home state....

RIP George.....

softandshy -> RE: George Carlin, RIP (6/22/2008 11:37:05 PM)

Damn, just damn.

Many lesson's learned through laughter.
Many lesson's learned through logic.
Many lesson's learned through open discussion.

He spread the truth on many subject's with out
fear.

I will miss his observations of the fragile and ignorant
state of
the Human Race.

Missy.

We are all poorer now.

I am just reading BrainDroppings which
has among other jewels Football/Baseball.
Brilliant stuff.

It was just announced that he was scheduled
to receive the Mark Twain prize for american
humor.  Hard to think of anyone more appropriate.

R.I.P. George Carlin thanks for all the happy times you gave to us all .You left us way too soon ..

endearing -> RE: George Carlin, RIP (6/23/2008 12:54:46 AM)

i went to see George Carlin perform in the late 1970s in San Marcos, Texas [a little north of San Antonio] -- it was one of my better decisions. He was great -- i remember his "seven words you can't say on television," the difference in the terms of baseball and football [such as: In football you go to the "end zone" and in baseball you go "home"], and his routine about things you find in the check out lanes of grocery stores.

George Carlin will be very much missed as he was an icon in the entertainment industry-- not simply a performer but an "artist".

popeye1250 -> RE: George Carlin, RIP (6/23/2008 12:55:18 AM)

I'm a little older so I can remember him as the Hippy Dippy weatherman on the Ed Sullivan show in the 60's.
We'd listen to 8 track tapes  and records if it was calm of his out at sea when I was in the Navy and laugh our asses off!

that just sucks.

OO8OO88O8 -> RE: George Carlin, RIP (6/23/2008 2:28:05 AM)

I can't imagine the years of drug use helped with his heart condition.

This really sucks. Carlin will always be one of my favorite comedians ever. His books were very nice to read as well. His book on Jesus passing the Pork Chops was great. RIP George.
