I was communicating with someone from here and she started to seem too good to be true – so I asked if she was real – then no communication – is this common – and is it offensive to ask someone if they are real? Sorry if I sound paranoid – but I didn’t want to get involved with what I thought was a pretty young lady to find out it’s someone playing games – is that common here? – Sorry to be such a newbie – but I’m new to being single and newer still to talking to people from a site like this – was just looking for a good match – or even a new friend - thanks

Sometimes, you have to kiss a lot of frogs, and or frogettes, until you meet the One.

Perhaps she got scared because you questioned her existence? Existentialist angst can really give someone the Fear.

nods ... i tried to make it a hard limit ... but DV just keeps doing it all the time

similarly He wakes me in the night to spot check I'm really who I say I am and its not some elaborately scripted body double ... last night He made me argue that the offensive imperialism adopted by Rome in the 1st century BC gave Caesar a more effective war machine than Scipio Africanus had available from the defensive imperialsim model used in the second Punic war and so that if pitched against each other Scipio would win. I say Scipio could take Caesar in a fight ... DV thinks I am on crack and says Caesar could beat anyone .. even DV.

see the lengths I have to go to to prove I am not  a fake! ... and all this at 1 am!

I don't know how you do it. I'd be a jibbering mess. It's tough enough knowing one is alive without having to prove it  (helllllllo, Descartes!).

Oh dear, yes!  She might have gone off into a long ponder trying to figure out if she's real or not.

If you don't hear from her in a month or so, write her off.

(Sorry, but that gave me a real chuckle.)

So, going back and reading her emails... did she react to anything YOU said?  Or could it all have been scripted?

Extremely good question, Cali! Of course, with the AI programs they have nowadays, you can be talking to someone on the phone, or chatting with someone, and later find out they are a robot. (shut up Faerie!)
It's a reasonable question to ask.
Although I wouldn't have asked for a pic after just a few emails. I usually just waited until they decided to send me one.

First, you clearly do not know Ceaser very well, must I remind you that it was Ceaser who was the first Roman to cross the Rhine?  He built a bridge across the river, marched his entire legion into Germania, looked around for ten days, then marched back across the Rhine pulling up the bridge behind him.

Until then, the Germanic tribes had kicked the butt of every Roman Legion that went up against them!

Scipio couldnt take Ceaser in a fight even if Ceaser was 10 days into a 30 day drunk with a broken arm.

And some people insist that women are the intellectual equals of men!!
the above sarcastic remarks were brought to you courtesy of a lunatic historian who missed his shock treatments.

Trav, been there done that and got a tshirt....  Now personally, I think Greedy Top hires a staff of these ladies to lead us poor Dominent men along and then when we think we found miss perfect they vanish.

I hereby request that the CM secret police invistigate this matter, and rs should volunteer to be the interogator.

I think if she was so pissed off about being asked if she was real, then you aren't missing much.

or maybe she freaked that you were onto her.

or maybe she didn't know anything about Caesur - or didn't like salad - or thought you were too good to be true too.

But, but but... I thought you were into Descartes... I could have bopped you with a text on existential phenomenology, yanno. Would that be better ?

Btw, ( not a hijack), what ever happened to those wonderful black tobacco , oh so fragrant, cigarettes like Gaulloise and Gitanes that the black beret crowd used to puff in the cafes discussing Sartre and Camus ? I can't find them anymore. Is it an existential thang ?

I would be tempted to be extremely sarcastic and snide in my response to that question so I might simply choose to ignore it and unltimately ignore you.
