For those of you who like to champion various causes - and those who enjoy giggling about those same causes - here's an interesting lil tidbit I ran across earlier today while checking a newsgroup that I belong to.

PETA Crashes Computer Programmers' Convention

I'm sure it'll give you a good giggle regardless of which side of the coin you're on.  I know it gave me enough of a laugh that I had to clean the moniter and keyboard prior to posting this.

Was it bad lighting, or was the girl holding the sign have a terrible case of 5 o'clock shadow?

And people wonder why I walk into PETA gatherings wearing leather jackets,  leather boots, leather belt, with a nice python covered laptop carrybag.....

Next they will be protesting out front of BDSM supply stores....

It's a funny story, but it's not true.  It was obvious to me that it was fake when I was reading it.  The only website that has this story is "fauxtech."  Y'all do know what "faux" means don't you?  The story is akin to "Nuns Abducted by Aliens Outside of Chuck's Bowl-A-Rama."

You'll notice I specified that it was a giggle producer?  I did so for a Reason.

Considering yout title for this thread, I'll call bullshit on the above. But feel free to rationalise all you like, georgia, which ever side of the coin you (are very obviously) on.

That was hilarious, hizgeorgiapeach.

IMO, PETA has been clueless from day one.  If I want to support the humane treatment of animals, I rely on more mainatream groups, like the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

I honestly can understand Peta's good intentions but they are pretty clueless and honestly why protest animals being used in films? I also  dont think much of the fur trade  regardless of how you look at it isnt it screwed up to skin something while its still alive? With all this being said I am a casual meat eater but I am trying to cut down and am considering becoming a vegan.

That was funny.  Thanks for the laugh.  I was in Des Moines a few years ago at the time the annual Pork Expo was happening and these morons were protesting.  They kept shouting at me and waving their signs like I was the pig Hitler.  I was causing the pig holocaust or something.   Amazingly, none of them cared that I was passing by on my way to a job interview.

Just a reminder - the story is a hoax - if that is of any importance to anyone...
