Owner59 -> McCain`s cheaf adviser" Another Attack on U.S. Would Be "Big Advantage" For McCain (6/23/2008 7:24:28 PM)

WTF?!?!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmVgL8AQlyw

As part of a series on “The candidates and your money,” Fortune Magazine asked Senator John McCain what he perceived as the single greatest economic threat to the United States. McCain’s reply, after several seconds of staring “into the void,” was “radical Islamic extremism.”

According to top McCain strategist Charlie Black, this response was no error. National security is McCain’s winning answer, no matter what the question

For example, Black told Fortune that even though the assassination of former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto last December was an “unfortunate event,” it was useful to McCain in the New Hampshire primary, because “his knowledge and ability to talk about it reemphasized that this is the guy who’s ready to be Commander-in-Chief. And it helped us.”

The Fortune interviewer goes on to say that “Black concedes with startling candor after we raise the issue” that McCain would also be helped by “another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. ‘Certainly it would be a big advantage to him,’ says Black.”

Charlie Black may not want an attack on US soil(we hope) but he certainly erased any line between national security(McCain`s strong point?) and their political aspirations.

I think this is a foreshadowing of the scare tactics the GOP will be using.

So much for a dignified campaign.

After denying and claiming he didn`t remember saying such a disgusting thing,he said this:

Iinterviewed by reporters as he stood outside McCain's fundraiser, said: "I deeply regret the comments. They were inappropriate. I recognize that John McCain has devoted his entire adult life to protecting his country and placing its security before every other consideration."

Black also had this ugly plum for us...

"On national security McCain wins. We saw how that might play out early in the campaign, when one good scare, one timely reminder of the chaos lurking in the world, probably saved McCain in New Hampshire, a state he had to win to save his candidacy - this according to McCain's chief strategist, Charlie Black. The assassination of Benazir Bhutto in December was an "unfortunate event," says Black. "But his knowledge and ability to talk about it reemphasized that this is the guy who's ready to be Commander-in-Chief. And it helped us." As would, Black concedes with startling candor after we raise the issue, another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. "Certainly it would be a big advantage to him," says Black.

These neo-cons are complete assholes.

If McCain has any integrity,Black with leave the campaign to spend more time with his family.

It was a stupid thing to say, no matter how true it is.

The GOP has always profitted by being the party of fear mongering, and playing up to people who... how shall I put this? ...don't use the brains God gave them. If they had, Bush never would have been elected... he would have served the one term he was installed to, and that would have been it.

I'm just kinda curious...  how many of you still have your rolls of plastic sheeting and duct tape lying around?

How many of you cowered and worked yourself into a state every time Tom Ridge came on TV and announced a "code plaid" or some other such nonsense?

How many of you actually walked into a McDonalds and demanded that they be called "Freedom Fries?"

How many of you actually wrote letters of protest about the frackin' "Dixie Chicks" saying how TX was embarassed by having Bush at the helm? (Talk about unwelcome truth...)

Frackin' sheeple!

Yeah, the Democratic Party has never profited from it at all.  [8|]  What party was in charge when all those Japanese internment camps were built again?

I never went out and bought all that crap.  But, I wonder how many bomb shelters built during the Cuban Missle Crisis are still standing.  I wonder how long it took people to use all the crap they bought for Y2K.  Why do you always try to blame the Republican Party for every negative thing that ever happens?  Do you really hold the Democratic Party up as innocent choir boys?  If memory serves me correctly, we've been worrying about Islamic terrorists since the 70's.

I have never worried about it.  But I guess they shouldn't have put any kind of system in place.  The Bush administration should have just said, "Well 9/11 really sucked, but what are you gonna do?"  Believe it or not, there are actually crazy fuckers in the world that would like nothing better than to cause lots of destruction, death, and panic among the American public.

I never did, I thought it was a fucking stupid thing to do.  However, I thin the PC lexicon that's come from the Left in the past 40 years is worse and much more alarming.

I didn't care about what the Dixie Chicks then, and I don't care about them now.  You may want to consider who the Dixie Chicks' main audience was at the time.  It wasn't real bright on their part.  The Dixie Chicks former fans have just as much right to their free speech as the Dixie Chicks.  No matter how true it was, the Dixie Chicks should have thought about their careers before opening their mouths.  Black should have done the same, but he didn't.  I don't condemn people for putting their foot in their mouths once in a while.

No big deal, he can just say he was drunk or on "sleeping pills" nod, nod, wink, wink (Hic!) and go to bad boy school like Patches Kennedy.

I love the Chicks.Beautiful harmonies and great song writing.

And slaveboy,I don`t recall any Dems exploiting the internment camps for their own political gain.

Not a good comparison. That`s the talking point to counter folks upset over Bush`s suspension of Habeas Corpus.

Any-whoo,....

Does anyone remember the "Terror Threat Level" thingie?

How it went up by coincidence, right around election time?

What color is the threat level, right now?

This is why high-end political stategists need to transported in sealed containers, and muzzled when they are allowed to walk anywhere.

Purple and pink, I believe. Must be a 70's thing.

I did have a boss who hung a little poster thing that told us what level the alert currently was. Someone pasted up a new level with a skull and crossbones and labled it "too late". I thought we should have at least gotten the day off to be safe but we didn't get it. Boss didn't find it very funny, but he was a democrat so there ya go.

MzMia -> RE: McCain`s cheaf adviser" Another Attack on U.S. Would Be "Big Advantage" For McCain (6/23/2008 9:50:03 PM)

Do you think he is getting a tad forgetful?

MasterKalif -> RE: McCain`s cheaf adviser" Another Attack on U.S. Would Be "Big Advantage" For McCain (6/23/2008 10:12:42 PM)

hahaha well the fearmongering continues my friends...and the democrats are willing followers of all this hogwash...a few now have jumped on the victory chariot stating that they were always against the war blah, blah...yet when war had to be voted they were silent or voted for it...

In any case, the economic "danger" if we can call it that way would be another growing economic power like China...Islamic radicalism has no real direct effect on the US economy, other than military expenditures, but its not something that will last for decades.
