Ok, so, the first time this guy came out with his in total bad taste nappy headed hoes comment, I thought, well...maybe he was just having a bad day. Maybe he didn't realize how wrong that was. (kind of like a guy calling women 'slits' or 'bitches')

But, his explanation of this last screw up has lost him my respect (for whatever that's worth).

Give me a break. I suppose if you have hate in your heart, it somehow leaks out, but, I was very surprised about this. And saddened.

MzMia -> RE: Imus (6/23/2008 9:46:07 PM)

Imus is freakin crazy.

hizgeorgiapeach -> RE: Imus (6/23/2008 9:47:58 PM)

Ooooooooook... this post simply proves to me that I just don't keep up with certain "types" of news enough.  Cause I've got no clue who you're talking about having said something - although What was said is pretty obvious.  Imus?  Who the fuck is Imus?

(And the other question of course is "Why should I Care what someone who I obviously don't follow what they're doing said about whothehellever?" )

lalbobbilynn -> RE: Imus (6/23/2008 9:54:32 PM)

Although i was very taken aback my the remark Imus made, i think i was equally stunned by Snoop Dogs' response to the Imus remark in colrrelation to the singers lyrics.

According to MTV, Snoop Dogg said that rappers "are not talking about no collegiate basketball girls who have made it to the next level in education and sports. We're talking about ho's that's in the 'hood that ain't doing sh--, that's trying to get a n---a for his money. These are two separate things."

As You stated blushes ....... You cannot hide internal hate forever .... no matter who says it.

I heard there was a much worse comment, that was caught and nixed in the delay system before it went out on the air.

That other comment was what got him fired.I`ll try to find out what the bleeped words were.

He was just trying to be hip and fucked up.

Nothing more brutal than seeing an old fogie trying to be "down" with younger folks and their lingo.Nothing...

It`s that bald headed producer that is the bigoted and vile one

pretend this is a song "Imus in the morning"...

he is a radio guy who is also now on cable tv, and was kicked off of his radio show last fall for making racist remarks, and recently back on the air, and back with more, and worse, racist crap.

Well,if there were a video of black female hookers who happened to have nappy heads and Imus made the same comment,he`d still be on NBC today.

But, the dope made the "hoe"comment about female collage athletes.

LOL, not good in any context.

You almost quoted me word for word, the reason I did not judge him as harshly the first time. But, yanno, he should know better. Snoop does not seem to have the intelligence Imus does. We can only judge people according to their level. Imus always seemed pretty intelligent with most of his remarks, imo. (with the exception of above)

MasterKalif -> RE: Imus (6/23/2008 10:05:22 PM)

what did this Imus guy say that was so wrong to get him fired? People seem to be overly politically correct these days where they self-censor themselves "afraid" to make a slip...

Imus might want to learn how to do this.

However, this is what happened:

During an on-air conversation Monday about the arrests of suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones, Imus asked, "What color is he?"
Told by sports announcer Warner Wolf that Jones, who used to be nicknamed Pacman, is "African-American," Imus responded: "There you go. Now we know."

He claims that he was just making the point that African-American's are picked on...

Ohhhkaaaayyyy....[8|]

This is a bit more than a slip. Where does "Jiggaboo" fall,in the PC book of dos and don`ts?

MasterKalif -> RE: Imus (6/23/2008 10:14:32 PM)

Thats it?? all the uproar for that? I mean its semi-insensitive but its not like he used racial slur on the air or said "all people such and such are like that"...people are too focused on color in this country rather than on being Americans first...

xxblushesxx -> RE: Imus (6/23/2008 10:16:24 PM)

I agree, but this doesn't help, now does it?

lalbobbilynn -> RE: Imus (6/23/2008 10:28:35 PM)

LOL .... Indeed ..... i did shadow Your thoughts; nevertheless, i have never felt Imus was more then what i see him as ..... an older gentleman who tries quite hard to be something he is not .... intelligent and well rounded in his vast views on the world as a whole.
As for the cerebral  standing of Snoop compared to Imus ...... there again i would oppose You. Snoop is a self-professed ex-pimp who does not hide behind his dislike of a certain group. i disagree with him as strongly as i do Imus. The only difference for me is i appericate the forthright apporach of Snoop.
They both embody a mindset that is limited at best, the only asymmetry is African American's can openly voice their dislike in a slang manner, White American's (due to obvious past racial issues) cannot.
Oddly enough, i had a smiliar insightful converstaion with the biological parents of my two nieces, and one nephew (who are African American).

From my standpoint.....the only worthwhile part of the Imus show, is/was the ''Cardinal Egan'' skit -  But the minute he started smackn' ass with the likes of Howard Kurtz and Jon Meacham, I pulled the plug.

I suppose not. I support Imus then for his free speech, its not like he gave a rallying speach in favor of Hitler or the Klan, so all the power to him...otherwise we will all get to a point where we are too afraid to say a joke, to say a comment, lest it be judged as "insensitive" or "racist" (a majorly misused term in my opinion). Carlos Mencias says it best

xxblushesxx -> RE: Imus (6/23/2008 10:41:58 PM)

Well, racist jokes have never been funny to me.
Seems to me that if that's the best one a person can come up with, well, maybe he/she needs to work on something other than his/her jokes. (yep, that includes black people making fun of whites, white people making fun of blacks, and straight people making fun of gays, and vice versa)

although I *do* enjoy a good dom joke every once in a while...

MasterKalif -> RE: Imus (6/23/2008 10:56:18 PM)

have you seen Carlos Mencia? he crosses the line, but hes great, makes fun of everyone including himself...that is what is best to be able to laugh at oneself, life is too short, you know? Dom jokes? that is crossing the line! LOL...tell us ;)

GreedyTop -> RE: Imus (6/23/2008 10:57:39 PM)

I love Carlos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Owner59 -> RE: Imus (6/23/2008 11:07:47 PM)

   Imus`s employers fired him,not the anti-defamation leauge.

Jesshhh....

Don`t they get to choose who works for them?

Imus and all of us work at the pleasure of our employers,this is capitalism...

Tough cookies...

"There`s no crying in baseball"

This has nothing to do with "free speech"rights.

The government didn`t fire the clown.
