Presumably she accepted Your collar because she loves and respects You -- the real You, not some phonied-up psuedo-Dom. If You're 'laid back' presumably she loves that about You, just as she loves Your other character traits.
There is no 'one true way'; unless Your subsmissive say she has a want/need regarding the issue she needs to discuss with You, nothing is wrong and You need not change a whit. The opinion of people other than You and Your submissive is just bullsh*t; let it float by.
