Presumably she accepted Your collar because she loves and respects You -- the real You, not some phonied-up psuedo-Dom. If You're 'laid back' presumably she loves that about You, just as she loves Your other character traits.

There is no 'one true way'; unless Your subsmissive say she has a want/need regarding the issue she needs to discuss with You, nothing is wrong and You need not change a whit. The opinion of people other than You and Your submissive is just bullsh*t; let it float by.

You have to be fair...but somehow doing it everytime reminds me of that show where the three year old falls down crying..after following her dad to where she could see him....see me Daddy, I'm hurt and your have to pick me up....he left her crying on the floor and went to another part of the room..and she followed him again ...and did it all over again...lol

All very good advice. i can sometimes be less reasonable than normal because i see something in my wife's eyes or actions that tell the inner Truth about what she needs. She was recently down with the flu and, knowing my insatiable sexual appetites, awoke the next morning upset. when i asked why she said because i didn't take my pleasure from her the night before. The fact i was letting her rest because she was ill became a lesser issue. it was i who had to explain myself. lol.
