Yep. Living inland in '04 didn't make a difference. Three of those hurricanes sitting overhead for a few days, ripping the crap out of things, was a real eye-opener. Looking out from the Citrus Tower showed the extent of the damage. It was pretty much nothing but a sea of blue tarps amongst the rolling hills, interspersed with chunks of forested areas leveled.

But, those are the chances we take living or vacationing in "paradise" at this time of the year.

Iain...i hope you have a blast!! Keep us posted on where you are and what you are doing. It is a wonderful, beautiful country filled with wonderful, beautiful people (and Potty is here too). [:D]

I'm staying with Greedy for a couple of weeks and then I plan to strike out on my own, find a cheap trailer for rent, maybe get a *** on the never never and an old jalopy......lol

What time?

I reckon I'm going to be a little worse for wear after being on the road for 48 hours straight without a bed to sleep in!

But I'm always up for a barbie invite....lol

Congrat's on your upcoming visit to America!  Did you look up information on taking a train?  I'm not sure of the cost comparison, but if you had a bed to sleep in while traveling you might find the trip less stressful.  My mother took a train from Michigan to Louisiana after visiting me, and she said it wasn't expensive at all (expensive being relative of course.)
Amtrak

MstrObjectmaker -> RE: Coming to America! (6/29/2008 7:54:38 AM)

Yes I checked out taking the train......but as it is the 4th July holiday weekend the train fare is double!

However I will be taking the train on the return trip.

I purchased a refundable return bus ticket.

Although obviously I won't be able to get back the full cost of the bus ticket as I will be using half of it I will be able to get the other half back, minus 20%.

Why, hello there, again!  I'm very happy that you're making the trip over here.  I read that at one point you were coming around the Richmond, VA area, is that still a go, or are you going  a different route?  If you were coming into the Washington, DC area, it would be nice to meet and say hello.  (And I could shake my red tresses at you in person!)  *giggles*

Well on my return trip to Philadelphia there is a train that passes through Washington, DC I would have to change trains there.

On the trip down to Florida the bus makes a 40 min stop in Richmond, VA.

But in the early hours of the morning.

So if you want to get the chance to shake your lovely red tresses at me, the return trip may be a good chance.

I could leave a day earlier..........

parttimehotty -> RE: Coming to America! (6/30/2008 6:20:54 AM)

Hi MrO..........if you want to stay a day/night in Richmond and love rollercoasters, I'd be happy to take you to King's Dominion for the ride (s) of your life! (Get your mind out of the gutter...thank you very much)

MstrObjectmaker -> RE: Coming to America! (6/30/2008 6:37:39 AM)

I'd like to say that my mind never ventured anywhere near the gutter......however your pic with the yellow smiley face bra and those lovely looking boobies......makes a lie of that........[:D]

parttimehotty -> RE: Coming to America! (6/30/2008 8:14:39 AM)

Yep!  I am planning/hoping to do something similar to Iain in that I will take a couple of months and drive/bus/train my way around, because it is so far and so expensive to get to the northern hemisphere it makes sense to stay for longer and see as much as I can. [:)]

GreedyTop -> RE: Coming to America! (6/30/2008 9:45:16 AM)

well, you're welcome here :)

parttimehotty -> RE: Coming to America! (6/30/2008 9:48:34 AM)
