Termyn8or -> Wierd request ? Music in the X directory. (6/28/2008 8:25:20 AM)

Now I have done it, but it is Saturday and the rules of the world change from the time I wake up on Saturday until the time I go to sleep or pass out. Saturday is MY DAY. I could give a fuck less anout torture, Bush, taxes I don't pay anyway or my retirement that is entirely unfunded. I simple don't care about anything on Saturday, except for this one thing.

I got my tunes arrainged alphabetically on a toolbar. It is not hard to setup, and if you do you will be glad you did. But there is something strangely disturbing. Something invading my Saturday fog, something I just cannot dismiss.

This goes by artist name, with any numbers printed, like 38 Special is Thirty eight not 38. I made 26 directories, one for each letter of the alphabet and it has now come to my attention that over the last five years or so of downloading to the point where I got 70 gig of stuff, there is nothing in "X".

Is there no good band or artist out there that I can put in the X directory ? Geez, why do they even make a letter if they ain't gonna use it ?

See this is what I think about on Saturdays.

All the days of my adult life I sit here and figure out people and things, and their problems, and I know most of the people I know better than they know themselves. But on Saturday I push the clutch all the way to the floor and put it in neutral, and I hold the clutch down just to be assured of a complete disengagement. This is MY DAY.

I got in a couple of bad bad arguments with bosses about working Saturday, in fact my Father got fired from a job for refusing to work a Saturday. Took him a whole week to get a better job, but he was admittedly getting old. I work when the fuck I want to work.

But on Saturday I have no commerce unless it is to get more beer. I do not deal with anything, I don't even answer my phone. It took me years to get all the fucking drama out of my life, and I'll be damned if I will let it back in, especially on a Saturday. I don't answer the phone, I don't check email, I do what the fuck I want when the fuck I want. That is in effect until I go to sleep or pass out, or get arrested for loud music.

But there is no music in the X directory. That is my main concern today. The rest of the time it is making ends meet, paying bills etc., but today this is the issue at hand.

Does anyone know of a band or whatever that starts with the letter X that is any good ? It sticks out like a sore thumb.

It is eleven here now, in three or four hours I might put my clothes on, so I guess I better burn one. But my beer will hold out until about three PM.

I have looked on P2P, and I have even just used the search term "X", there seems to be nothing. Is the letter X just an extra or what ?

So those are my lame ass thoughts on a Saturday, so much for that. But the question sticking in my craw is, are there no good bands starting with the letter X ?

And in my directory, all "A"s and "The"s are eliminated, and numbers are spelled out. Yet there is still nothing in the X directory.

I wish I had these kind of problems all week, but oh well.

Found this, but no guarantee if you'll want to listen to any of it.

I have my tunes organized the same way, and I have the same problem...nothing in the X directory...most disturbing

I only have one artist in my "X" filing, and it's an indie band that appears on an old MP3.com compilation CD.

The artist is X'cel.

I'll leave the listenability of this artist up to everyone else. ;-)

Well Des came up with something, and I guess I'll have to try to DL it.

Actually I have a bunch of stuff, all mixed up and have no idea who did it, maybe the X directory could become the X directory.

X?

Exactly. I just listened to the LP (yep, actual vinyl) with the song "True Love" on it last night, as well as their offshoot project with Dave Alvin, The Knitters (fine playin' and beautiful harmonies).

BTW, it's Cervenka. They stayed at my old guitarist's (ex-Tuff Darts/Darts w/ Robert Gordon @ CBGBs) house once when they were in Houston. Monumental arguments, he reported.

I title my mp3 files Artist First Name Artist Last Name - Song Title.mp3

So in my system Xavier Cugat would be an X.

If you are one of those commie tree huggers that puts the surname first then this would not work.

Oddly, this thread makes me want to go watch "Diner".

Lessee, over here we have:

XIV Dark Centuries (melodic black metal),
Xandria (uhh, goth...might get rid of that lol),
X Japan (heavy/prog japanese metal that also went by X),
Xystus (more prog metal).

So if the fast and dark grooves move you, you're in luck.  If not, can't help ya.

MadameMarque -> RE: Wierd request ? Music in the X directory. (6/28/2008 10:56:08 PM)

Well, yes, both the bands called "X" are excellent choices.

The music of the American band, X, still holds up.  Here's their official site, for which I coincidentally had occasion to go looking, recently: http://www.xtheband.com/index.html

Also, X-Japan, with supreme musicians, the irrepressible hide (the Japanese name, pronounced hid-deh) and outrageous Yoshiki, are an excellent source.  (You might also look hide with his bands Spread Beaver (yes) and Electric Cucumber, and Yoshiki, still going very strong http://wiki.theppn.org/YOSHIKI, www.myspace.com-yoshiki.)

Termy, I have no band to suggest. But I envy You the attitude You have about Saturday; maybe I'll adopt it.  I love the way You think, dear Man.
