spinninsweetness -> RE: Changes in My Neigborhood (6/29/2008 8:20:29 AM)

I like where I live. Waaaaay better than Newquay, but most places are.

Only change- get rid of Twickenham rugby ground, move it somewhere else, so I dont get idiots with stupid wigs on shouting and pushing me doorbell at 3am and I can actually use the trains on match day.

Oh and move the H37 bustop closer to me.

And a Primark and Newlook to open inRichmond.

Thats it I think.

No wait, Twickenham train station more buggy-friendly- those stairs kill me.

pissthirstysub -> RE: Changes in My Neigborhood (6/29/2008 8:24:49 AM)

I don't have any problems with my neighborhood that can't be fixed by just moving, even so they probally aren't really problems, minor annoyances of having to get up and do stuff. I like to chalk it up to "it's just the way things work".
As to your Deli/ Chineese food problem- I think we live around the same area, being one who eats out ALOT I know of some pretty decent eateries.

*laughs*  DA..you REALLY need to stay away from Walgreens, or you're gonna end up with another Brittney....LOL

LMFAO BrittneyLee actually did come from Walgreens [:D] Walgreens is what Native Americans would call "The Happy Hunting Grounds"... If Britt only had a brain, I would probably have married her - even though she isnt as good at giving head as her sister CassieLee LOL If only I could find a discreet way to suggest she get some tips from Cass. LOL

Easy enough, DA - lie to her.  Tell her ya talked to one of Cassie's boyfriends or exboyfriends, and he was raving about her Ability.

CalifChick -> RE: Changes in My Neigborhood (6/29/2008 11:05:07 PM)

The reasons doctors' offices are closed for "lunch" for 2 1/2 hours is that patients don't follow directions and then call and complain that they aren't better, or they don't bring in a list of their concerns and therefore must call back multiple times after their appointment, or they demand an immediate appointment for something that is not an emergency by any stretch of the imagination, or they say "if you just tell the doctor it's me, he'll take my call"... yeah, uh huh, righhhhhhhhhhttttttttt.

They need some "no incoming calls" time just to get shit done.

And the reason they don't take calls on Friday afternoons? Because people don't plan ahead on their medications and wait until Friday afternoon to try to get more.  Not taking calls on Friday afternoons is merely self-preservation, or the staff and the doctor would never get out of there.

That's bulsh*t.

If that were true, lawyers would close for lunch and on Friday afternoons too.

Instead we get sh*t done during the day, before the day starts, and after hours -- as well as on the weekends.

O well, at least MDs don't take off every Wednesday anymore to play golf.

It is what it is -- elitism.  And lousy customer service, but that's rampant.

[8|]  Somebody seems to have an "elitism" complex lately...

Next time the doctor can't or won't talk with you because he has to go on to other patients, just think about the times he stayed late at lunch seeing patients. Or maybe he's doing rounds at the hospital. Not taking incoming calls doesn't mean they aren't working, just that they're not taking calls. As for lousy customer service, if you don't like it, then go to another doctor. You have that choice. But next time it's 230 am and you have an emergency, just remember that that same doctor who's shitty office hours you complain about, is the same one taking your call no matter what hour of the day or night it is.

As for attorneys, they're out of their offices just as much with court, appointments and business related work. It's a two way street.

Maya2001 -> RE: Changes in My Neigborhood (7/1/2008 1:41:51 PM)

I prefer for the most part to look at my community thru a glass that is half full rather than half empty..it helps to prevent me from becoming a whiny bitter person

I am in a fairly quiet neighbourhood, most of my neighbours are retired senior ,   because people are home most of the time ..there is very little crime.. the street I am on is a busy one..it can make it difficult to get out of the driveway during rush hours but the bonus is my road is one of the first to get plowed and is kept in better shape than others...I live in a small city ...so don't have a lot if the services your demanding like drivethru ATM's and pharmacies which is kind of nice because you need to get out of car to make friends and good acquaintances...the Paramedics in my neighbourhood are hot looking guys [:D] great calenday material

I have a grocery  store that is open 24 hours -- great for shift work  ....and often the paramedics when they are done their shift shop there as well ...too bad I can;t pop one of them in my shopping cart .,,but who knows I may get tempted to try,  there are lots of Tim Hortons locations  so convenient for meet ups with Doms and a few resteraunts to go to if first meets go well and a nice conservation park for a long walk afterward to continue talking and getting to know one another .....if I can't into a doctor I can go to a walk in clinic if opened if not there is a hospital ..services may be cut back but at least I have them if a situation warrant... life could be worse.......instead of looking for gripes look for the good and then maybe you be more focused on appreciating what you have instead of what you don't have

i worked in a Doctor's office years back, and the reasons stated above by Cali are quite realistic.  There are files that have to be updated, calls that have to be returned, and even doctors feel the need to actually have some time to eat and unwind during the day.  Doctor's put up with quite a bit from demanding, overbearing patients, and you might be surprised how much time it can take to deal with certain personality types.   If everyone finds out their Doctor's hours and phone protocols, it is easy to work around those things.

So you've worked in a doctor's office before?  Or are you just making up stuff again because you don't like my answers?  I've worked in the medical field for over 10 years now, and I have no reason to make up shit like this.  I would estimate that less than 10% of any practice's patients are the reason that these sorts of boundaries have to be put into place.

Perhaps tax attorneys don't have the same issues as doctors do.  Or perhaps tax is the one specialty where you can actually speak to an attorney if you call the office on a Friday afternoon.  It certainly doesn't apply to the personal injury attorneys that I've deal with, or the workers comp attorneys, or the criminal attorneys, or the family law attorneys.  And attorneys not closing for lunch? You're joking, right?  The most you can get is a receptionist on the phone who will take a message but can't tell you squat.  That is no different than leaving a message on the office voicemail or calling back during stated business hours.

sirsholly -> RE: Changes in My Neigborhood (7/1/2008 2:35:34 PM)

i have been in the medical profession since i was 19 yrs old. It is totally unrealistic to think ANY medical professional takes a 2 1/2 hr lunch break. Most of us, if we DID eat at all, tossed something down while sitting at our desks or traveling from the office to the hospital.  Fridays were nightmares!! As Cali said you had the last minute patients who wanted to cover their butts for the weekend but even without these delightful situations there was still a great deal to be done. A doctor generally has a assoc cover for him if he is to have time off. Therefore. priority patients/potential crisis situations are explained to the covering assoc. (ie Mr. Smith is experiencing yada yada..and may present to the ER). Who do you think translates this info? It is the doctors staff relating it to the staff of the covering associate. All of this takes time..

And it is laughable that someone would insinuate medical professionals do not work on weekends. There were weekends my head was a complete stranger to my pillow.

LadyRainfire -> RE: Changes in My Neigborhood (7/1/2008 2:40:00 PM)

[:-]  [Insert swear words here]

We had weekends off???? Since when? Those were some of our busiest times!

Oh that's right, I was just a lowly EMT on the ambulance crew for 5 1/2 years who worked so few hours that the monsters didn't know who I was and I knew most of the staff at the local hospitals on a first name basis... What is about that 5th call in a row and you're back yet again at the ER?

sweetwenchie -> RE: Changes in My Neigborhood (7/1/2008 2:52:41 PM)

[:D]  i dunno, but i always got weekends off...  oh yeah, that is because i'm a spoiled little wench [8D]  or maybe it is because i was just a receptionist, being on the low end of the totem pole isn't always bad...

DesFIP -> RE: Changes in My Neigborhood (7/1/2008 6:25:30 PM)

The grocery store in my town should start selling pickled green tomatoes the way they used to when I first moved here. I can get good bagels, good cream cheese and excellent smoked salmon but there are no pickled green tomatoes within an hour drive. This must end immediately.

Speed bumps on my road please. No shoulders, marked at 40, well known to get runners, skateboarders, rollerbladers, bikes etc as one of the entrances to the Preserve is her, yet people race through at 65 and above.

AND it appears business is slow enough attorneys can create MULTIPLE PERSONALITIES to post on Message Boards all day. Who's taking their calls?

Hummmm, I think I just demand that a taco bell be built near my house, and only I be allowed to purchase from it.

parttimehotty -> RE: Changes in My Neigborhood (7/2/2008 6:39:41 AM)

OP,

It's was a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
Until your stupid posts showed up
Would you leave mine?
Could you leave mine?

It's a neighborly day in this CMwood,
A neighborly day for a shooting,
Would you leave mine?
Could you leave mine?

I have always wanted to shoot a neighbor just like you,
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood without you.

So let's make the most of this beautiful day,
Since you're not together, CM'ers might as well say,
Would you leave mine?
Could you leave mine?
Will you NOT be my neighbor?

Won't you please,
Won't you please,
Please won't you leave my neighborhood?
