lovepuppy -> Fantasy homophobes on the right, fantasy non-homophobes on the left (6/30/2008 11:44:31 PM)

I am working on an MMO, for those of you who don't know what this is it's an online game, with sometimes hundred of thousand of other users playing at the same time...kinda a cross between a chat room and a video game, is the most basic way of describing it.  they can get a lot more involved but that is a good enough description enough.  Within these games a lot of men play female characters, sometimes pretending to be female players as well, to gain whatever advantage they think they will gain from it.

I said that to say this:  There is another thread of the moment about people thinking other users are fakes...ussually men faking being women...  ok, so in both cases, the game and this site, who the fuck cares?  if it is a fantasy their real life plumbing isn't going to matter and if you are going after something in real life then the fantasy doesn't matter.  so I'm not sure what the hang up is, I mean I almost always know the gender of someone I'm dating before I buy them dinner...and if you can't figure it out over dinner, then you kinda deserve to get that interesting surprise afterwards.

The reason for this minirant is the backlash is now hitting biological women who are being accused of being men in drag making the whole clusterfuck of meeting people through a website that much more complicated as people get thier feelings hurt by the third parties who "said I wasn't real"... so guys if you're not sure if the girl you're talking to is really a girl, don't do something you'll regret later, go find a 20second porn sample site, jack off and go to bed, and don't waste your money crossing the country/globe until you really know who it is you're talking to.  It's that simple, you don't have to use "your not real" to cover your ego cuz a real girl just shot you down.

we all get shot down, you're a guy deal with it, boo fucking hoo, it happens.  If you cyber somebody and it turns out they have an outie rather than an innie, get over it, just treat it like a strange night in a holding cell and let it go at that.  I don't need my life complicated because some freaked out homophobe has pushed an already distrusting sub into a full blown skeptic about the male of the species.

For me it feels as if you are talking about transphobia rather than homophobia.
