I dont understand the fascination with ingesting "natural" toxins... I used to keep hot snakes, until I got married the last time and realized that little ones should not share living quarters with elapids, bitis, or crotalids... I never had the desire to let one tag me so that I could experience the toxic effects of their venom, despite it being "natural". (and probably more chemically fascinating than various fungi and molds) Ive heard of people ingesting mushrooms, eating various fish livers, licking venomous frogs and doing all kinds of other craziness. Whatever happened to the good old days of getting your happy pills from a doctor? I mean jesus, what can someone possibly gain from running around ingesting toxins? I dont see how the hallucinogenic experience can contribute anything to ones betterment, life enrichment, or self realization / self actualization. Ive had a fever high enough to "trip". Seeing David Letterman as Elmo, watching colored lights dancing around my dog, and discovering that my girlfriend was the Blair Witch and liked to eat live rats really didnt do very much for me. I was VERY glad when the fever broke and she turned back into herself and I recognized that the empty KFC box probably didnt ever have any rats in it.
