Today's most watched Youtube video - Harry Reid, the energy Nazi!

Here on the east coast, tuna and other Atlantic ocean fish are so full of mercury that the fish is inedible.

We know the mercury is coming from the mid-west coal fired plants and carried in the upper atmosphere on the jet stream, and evenly distributed out over the ocean and the east coast.

Mercury makes people sick.

Do the math.

One-third of U.S. mercury emissions come from coal-burning electric-utility plants, most of which are in the Midwest. Pollutant-laced clouds, carried by the wind to the Northeast, are captured by the Appalachian and Adirondack mountains. The pollutants are then unleashed in rain that falls on the region's forests.

Humans are exposed to mercury primarily by eating fish, which is why 48 states have issued freshwater-fish advisories limiting consumption. As mercury builds up in the body's tissues, it can affect the heart, brain, and nervous system. Pregnant and nursing women in particular must be careful, because mercury can be passed on to their children, and an estimated 600,000 children born each year are at risk. In 2004 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that one in six women of childbearing age has unsafe mercury levels.

Your links are from some questionable sources. Try this one, instead - very little of the mercury that you claim to be concerned about comes from American coal-fired power plants. American coal is some of the cleanest, most heavily regulated coal in the world!

And you're something of a riddle, 059.

You're clearly using power, otherwise you wouldn't be on the Internet. Even if you were using wind and solar for your PC the server rooms and routers along the way use significant electricity, some of which likely comes from coal.

Would you like the Internet shut down? Do you and Mr. Reid want people to suffer, especially people like the elderly or single moms who struggle now, already, during seasonal extremes?

Wind and solar can't keep up with our needs, especially if everyone starts driving electric vehicles... and Liberals like you and Harry Reid will end whatever American manufacturing remains if we can't deliver the fuel required to keep it running.

I really don't think polar extremes such doing without power are ever the solution to anything.  Things like "quite mining" or "do what ever you want" are not intelligent solutions to anything.  This is a very crowded planet and whatever we do to sustain ourselves is going to have large impacts on the finite (meaning fixed not small) resources that we have.  Obviously we all depend on electricity and it has to be produced in some manner.  I'm fairly sure that however it is produced will have some cost or consequence to us and our resources.  What we have to do is try our best at minimizing that "cost."  Our coal is cleaner to mine and burn now because of the legislation that stemmed from environmental concerns.  Those environmental concerns weren't about just protecting the environment just for the sake of doing so.  The purpose of protecting the environment was to protect the species that lives in that environment -- us humans.  If we poison all of our food sources we have no food to eat.  If we  simply stop producing energy to protect the food sources then we can't farm/gather/distribute/prepare/store the food.  The trick is to find that balance where we don't do without one to get the other.
