the US is also the most charitable nation in the world.  wonder if that could be related to how high so many of us allegedly are....

I still hold the firm belief that Americans are by far a very over-medicated society. Not just illegal drugs but legal and RX drugs as well. Who isnt addicted to caffeine? That's a drug! Some people cant even function without it.

And then we have all these pills for anxiety, depression, and a million other things. Parents throw Ritalin at their kids when they cant control them. We go to the doctor everytime we have a sore throat and get angry when we dont walk out with a RX for an anti-biotic. It's amazing how many drugs Americans are on. Everyone wants the miracle pill instead of allowing the body to do what it was designed to do. We were not designed to be drugged up 24/7.

Now Im not talking about those that have legit diseases that need such medication to survive or live a healthy life. That's different. But drugs should only be used as a last resort. Try to allow the body to fix its problems naturally. And even using natural substances that are not as harmful or toxic to the body as drugs. Most drugs are toxic to the body because the body has to work to get rid of them. Alcohol is very toxic and the liver has to work in overdrive to get rid of it.

cyberdude611...We are the most medicated because we are the largest society that can afford to be.

It is not because we are Americans but simply our situation...give it time China and or India will be come more medicated then us.

I really enjoyed seeing that New Zealand came in second on the list.  God bless those Kiwis finding something to do other than sheep. 

Seriously though, polls like this always seem skewed to me.  In that some societies consider drug use to be more taboo than others, so in turn some people are less likely to be honest when answering these types of questions.

I think a lot of people lie on those polls.  I remember getting polled in high school about drug use.  I checked every drug on the list, whether I had tried them or not.  LOL.  However anytime I have ever been asked in a job interview if I have ever used drugs, my answer is always, "Absolutely not, sir/ma'am."  [:D]

Dude, click on the link I posted in #7 of this thread, WHO (World Health Organization) numbers and stats and a big color coded map of alcoholism the world over!

Eh, as if drinking booze, smoking cig's etc.. is any better...
What about medicinal marijuana. I've got Lymes disease, and I smoke pot often to help ease the pain, and not only that, but it actually helps me be able to eat. And to be honest i'd smoke it even if I didnt have Lymes disease. Don't be so quick to judge, lol I could judge you easily from looking at your profile, but yet I don't, Sir/Ma'am. And we're not all brainless I'll have you know, I went to college when I was sixteen, and yeah, I was stoned throughout my time of being a 4.0 student.

I think I might have been the world's top drug abuser all by myself.  Thankfully I don't do drugs anymore.
