42% of Americans admit to have tried marijuana and 16% admit to cocaine use. These are the highest numbers in the world.

Status: offline 		Who hasn't smoked pot before?  I think 42% is a low number honestly.  I don't know why people would be surprised that we do more drugs than anyone else.

Status: offline 		          Yeah, but how many countries have our kind of disposable income for the good shit?  Where does alcohol fall on that list?  Cigarette smoking?  Those are drugs too.

       They've even been doing drug screens on the inflow at the treatment plant.  Lotta crackheads around here, but I already knew that.

I am of the opinion that a person can drink alcohol socially and smoke marijuana casually without impairing their life.  But that cocaine, meth and heroin are more destructive.

Really. That's DEA/pig mentality. Any use of an illegal substance is abuse because they are illegal. Insanity.

Of course, the really interesting thing is, pot use in the US is at around 40%, and it's illegal here, whereas in NL, where MJ is quasi-legal, the rate is 20%. Things that make you go "how much more idiotic can our government get?"

Meth is the most destructive drug I know of, with PCP a close second (PCP DOES cause brain lesions, unlike MDMA). Cocaine doesn't come close to meth, IMO. I have my own notions about opioids, but let me ask you, why do you say diacetylmorphine is destructive? I'm interested in your thinking, and where that thinking originated.

I also had been on Bextra, nuroten,

6 of 1 1/2 dozen of the other.

I seen an expert [drug law] on cspan the other day.  man he got the rude comments by callers...

That was one of my thoughts.  The others were:

1. Our transportation system is good.  A large number of people have motorized vehicles, and roads extend all over.  I expect that rural Latin America may be very difficult to get supplies to, includign illegal ones.
2. It would not even be possible to GET data like this in some more represseive countries.

Trying it doesnt make it abuse.  I tried brussel sprouts one time, does that mean I abuse them?

Of course beer,wine and hard liquor(America`s real drug problem) don`t even enter into the equation.

Does alcohol cause similar levels of damage and lost proclivity in other countries?
