Owner59 -> What did John McCain know about the economy and when did he know it... (7/2/2008 7:49:36 PM)

As Americans face record foreclosures and pay 4 bucks or more per gal., to drive to bankruptcy court,John McCain is suddenly an economic expert, after constantly saying "he`s no expert".

It`s obvious he`s been caught fib`n about about what he`s said,or he`s having another senior moment.

They don`t even have the price of gas correct on their website. He just looks out of touch with regular people.

Seems like he`s trying to play down his "oh shucks,I ain`t no fancy expert on those dang economics matters" image, now that the economy is the # 1 issue in the country.

Think of it this way.

The rats who advised Bush, are telling McCain what to do...

Yes yes.... but at least he knows about torture.  Why he was so against it in the primaries, he made so many speeches saying we should not use toture (waterboarding).  He was so outspoken against it, right up to the time he voted to make waterboarding legal, then at a news conference said the president should veto the bill, because it is wrong.

No confusion there...plain and simple...which ever way the wind blows that is his POV

I saw the houseing crash about 4 years ago when people were buying 3 or 4 properties with sub-prime loans hoping to flip them and had delusions of grandeur. Home values were inflated and mortgages were being taken out on those inflated values. And millions of people fell into the trap.

Im sorry but I disagree with Obama and McCain on this. Sure the banks and the governmernt share some blame for allowing this. But are you telling me the taxpayers need to bail out people who were buying 4 houses with an $30k a year income? Give me a break. Those people deserve bankruptcy and deserve to lose their skin.

The more I read these posts of yours, the more I am becoming a McCain supporter.

McCain said that the economy was not his strongest area, meaning he has an area that he is stronger in.

What are Obama's strong points?  Oh yeah he seems to be an expert in everything these days... I am still waiting for anybody to point to a law on the books that Obama authored.  Just one?  I would even settle for one from his days in the Illinois Senate...

I really can't wait until after Obama gets back from Iraq, and claims that the progress is a success, or when he starts talking about using the same strategy in Afghanistan...

Just to be fair though, what are Obama's plans to "fix" the economy?  An increase in the capital gains tax, win-fall taxes on oil companies (which will just be passed on to you and me), raising taxes on folks making 250k or more (which should make all of those small businesses that are not incorporated excel).... did I miss something?

I agree with you on the housing market to a point.  But...

It always stikes me as interesting when it comes to helping average people in this country, say with medical insurance,  or the housing market, everbody against it cries "Free Market, the Free Market will take care of it"

But when business's start to fail because of poor management they turn to the government to bail them out.  If it's a Free Market then let them live and die in the market place.  How can it be Free Market when businesses are allowed to be bailed out with taxpayer money.

What happened to Free Market when Wall Street turned to Washington to be bailed out, why is it ok to bail out business in a FREE MARKET and not help the average person.

It's only a free market when it supports those with the power and money, when the system fails (or works depending on POV) then the free market gets thrown out and it's help us we made bad business choices

John McCain went to Colombia and warned against :  “isolationism and protectionism” Funny wouldn't that acctually give jobs to Americans?? Isn't that that Americans want?

I understand that American's WANT $20.00 shoes at the Wal-Mart made in China for .02 per shoe, If that, America wants Cheap products. BUT if If America wants good jobs that pay good wages then they have to be willing to be isolationistic and Protectionistic!

Well Im not in favor of closing doors and shutting off the country to the world. But the current trade policies and agreements do no benefit the people of the United States.

But Congress is the big problem here. Even the Democrats are scared to stand up to people like Steve Ballmer. Ballmer told a congressional committee that Microsoft would hire more Americans but they wont because "Americans make too much money." How did the Democrats respond to that comment? They approved a deal that allowed for more H1B visas and that gave Microsoft the OK to bring in foreign labor. Instead of paying Americans $50k, they brought in people from India for $25k.

So you have to wonder if Congress agrees with these corporations. That body is not working in our best interests. They will never change or discard NAFTA. A lot of VERY rich people stand to lose a ton of money if NAFTA is changed. And many of those people have ties of our congressmen.
