PsyVamp -> RE: Vanilla... so sweet, but not for me. (7/4/2008 3:23:24 PM)

For me, it really depends on the situation and the person.
I had a 10 year monogamous 'vanilla' relationship and it didn't kill me.  Then again, I was looking for something else at the time and it "fit" my temporary needs.
I could date a 'vanilla' man, IF he was poly.
But if you ask me to give up everything and go back to playing soccer mom again...
....well....
I can't answer that
I haven't met anyone that inspired me to do that...I will not write that it would never happen, because we all know that using absolutes like "never" tends to backfire.

So here's my question... how many of you have turned down dates with a 'vanilla' because you felt that the BDSM aspects of your life almost made human vanillas another species?

Not dating horses or dogs (and no girl is not talking about hung like a horse or dog ungly) cats and birds are out of the species relm too.....gorillas maybe???

I guess the distinction isn't species as much as genus then. lol

Anyhow, Personally I've turned down a few people, a couple in particular, because the way I am would just be too much for them...
(I'm talking about the sort of people who think that there is no point to sex beyond procreation.) On the other hand, I've taken a couple of people up on offers, knowing they were like that, but also reading that they wanted to see if there was something more there..

So, short answer, Yes, and No... It does very much still depend on the person and how vanilla they are, I guess.
Also whether or not they're suited to my tastes, as odd as they can be. :D

Corruptibility is a wonderful thing. ;)

Edit: Wrong button, ended up with double post instead of adding a comment. Gah!

I have turned down dates with vanilla in the past. I also made a point of not flirting in a way that would encourage a vanilla to ask me on a date. I have already been in failed vanilla relationships and I really don't want to hit that brick wall again. I have met some great vanilla people that would be considered good catches and still turned them down because knowing myself it just wouldn't work. The few vanilla dates I did try out didn't feel right. I ended up feeling like I was wearing a costume to hide the real me--never a good sign.
