Well I've hit a stumbling block as far as hiring a car is concerned......for a while at least........apparently the hire companies need a credit card to secure the car hire on.......I didn't bring one with me........

I brought cash and travellers checks..........

However my bank in France is sending me one............but by the time it arrives...........I will probably buy a car instead of hire one........

So instead of getting out there, in the meantime.............I've got a few more days of internet surfing at Greedy's and her work..........lol

i've rented a car without a credit card, but it took money for a deposit...did that come up at all with the companies you looked into?

Can someone tell me where I can buy postage stamps..........is it only post offices?

In UK you can buy them from supermarkets and news stands......

pahunkboy -> RE: I am now in America.......WOOHOO!!!! (7/9/2008 12:06:44 PM)

post office- it is in the blue pages of phone book under US.   some grocers sell stamps as a courtesy

Grocery stores should carry them, you may have to ask. They also may only sell them in book quantity. Post offices have them (duh but those are the only two places I can think of).

94 cents to mail to UK. and stamps must have the money denomination on them.   so a forever stamp wont do...
