"respectfully, Ma'am ... stay out of the sugar cookies... "

This brings up so many issues for my boi and me... basically, anything following from "respectufully... " or "with all due respect" .. and more so that latter...

is often NOT respectful ....

I asked my boi to help me keep my fat ass out of the sugar cookies.. they aren't so good, but I love them.. I don't care for most chocolate so sugar cookies make me very happy.. but they are store bought and not so great.. but.. I can't keep my fingers out of them.. and that is not good...

I've set her up.. in many ways.. its a lose lose for her... keep me away from something I can't stay away from...

do you do this?  its all in good fun with us... I just want her to help me a little.. and not feed them to me by hand...

and what about.. "with all due respect ..."

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Respectfully, Ma'am .... (7/6/2008 8:44:00 AM)

"With all due respect" is code pretty much everywhere for "YOU ARE SO FULL OF SHIT and here's why".

Stop buying sugar cookies, eh!  Or you will end up with big tits like me...

Madame4a -> RE: Respectfully, Ma'am .... (7/6/2008 8:47:30 AM)

I NEVER buy sugar cookies... damn it.. we were supposed to go to a play party.. and unfortunately, didnt make it out.. I'm actually going to send the stupid things off with my boi to her office.. *grin*

Madame4a -> RE: Respectfully, Ma'am .... (7/6/2008 8:56:50 AM)

*grin*

Madame4a -> RE: Respectfully, Ma'am .... (7/6/2008 8:57:59 AM)

I don't mind things such as, "with all due respect".  Yes, it might be needed because it might be something that I'm full of shit on.  How else is the poor sub supposed to bring My attention to it?  Would I really prefer to be told I'm full of shit?  Probably not.  Then I'm twice irritated because, not only am I full of it, but I'm also being told about it.   LOL.

Seriously, you gave your boi a directive.  If this is really something that you want your boi to do for you, it stands to reason that you also have to give your boi a way to implement it.  So, now, here is your boi, trying to do what has been told, but no way to approach it.  Yep.  That does sound like lose/lose to Me.

If you don't like that particular phrase, direct your boi to use something else.  It takes the pressure off of your boi of being in that spot of doing what your boi was told, and yet being uncertain of the way you'll accept it.  A couple of My personal favorites are......

"You asked me to remind you, M'Lady."

"May I speak frankly, Ma'am."  (Obviously stolen from a friend of Mine.)

It is a small thing (the sugar cookies) but I've gotten to know you enough through these boards that you really wouldn't want to set up your boi to fail.  Not in this kind of way.  Maybe a fun kind of way, but not in matters such as these.

bobipanti -> RE: Respectfully, Ma'am .... (7/6/2008 9:00:29 AM)

Madame4a--I believe that You should just tell Your boi to throw all sugar cookies in the trash!! I love sugar cookies, but working on a gurlish figure will not allow me such items. JUST KEEP THEM OUT OF THE HOUSE. I know that it is tough, but Your female form is a temple to worship and take care of.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: Respectfully, Ma'am .... (7/6/2008 9:04:54 AM)

if you dont want to eat the cookies...ill eat them for you...

COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKIEEEEEEEEEEEES

Zaraseeks -> RE: Respectfully, Ma'am .... (7/6/2008 9:12:41 AM)

Any time I say "With all due respect" it is normally followed by "which is nill" JUST in case they didnt catch it the first time, but i actually use it more when i am being bratty to Dom friends, and they think its cute, cute enough to bend me over even lol...

I think this is a fun situation for Your boi, play failure that really isnt failure is always fun!

Madame4a -> RE: Respectfully, Ma'am .... (7/6/2008 9:15:27 AM)

yes... you are so right.. I would never set her up...

the duct tape takes care of it.. and makes her NOT the bad guy.. so I'm pleased with that solution...

*grin*

thank you!  and bobi ... you are so right...

miss faery ... they're all yours... how to I ship them overseas .. they really aren't that good.. you'd get better ones at Dominion...

edit: your in usa...your not overseas!!! sheesh.... but usa takes 2-3 weeks minimum cause their postal service sucks.

It's customs that's the problem, not either postal service.  Ten days minimum for a CD to clear customs.  I got a profile with Amazon-Canada so I wouldn't be mailing things from here.

Said, you know, with all due respect.[;)]

hardbodysub -> RE: Respectfully, Ma'am .... (7/6/2008 9:40:05 AM)

In the phrase "With all due respect", the key word is "due". This phrase is always followed by something that makes it clear that the speaker believes NO respect is DUE.

Usually I'd say it's a way to disagree with someone higher in a hierarchy (this applies outside BDSM for sure, like the army, or Japan's society as a whole). It's a way to say it without implying you don't know your place.

Oh and I want some cookies too, my gurlish figure could use some :P

DreamyLadySnow -> RE: Respectfully, Ma'am .... (7/6/2008 10:22:53 AM)

A really fun phrase a boy I play with has coined is: I'm sure in the fullness of time you shall be proven correct, Ma'am.

I think the meaning is the same..lol.
That said, it's wonderful fun to play with their minds..heh heh.

CallaFirestormBW -> RE: Respectfully, Ma'am .... (7/6/2008 12:31:56 PM)

We prefer "permission to speak freely, Ma'am?". If SR or I is in the mood to deal with the 'dressing down' that comes after a "you have permission", we give it. If we're feeling irritable or arbitrary, the answer will typically be "No". Sometimes, one of us is more capable of listening to us being told that our servant thinks we've screwed up than the other -- so that one will say yes, the other will say no, and the servant will be escorted to someplace where xhe can speak hir mind to the one of us who is in a mindframe to hear it.

I've never encountered a "with all due respect" or "respectfully" that was ever meant with any real respect.

Yes, it was LoL... hi there, LP.  From my perspective, "May i speak frankly, Ma'am?"  directly translates to "May i pulleeease (<stretch this out as long as you possibly can, cause us submissives all know how dominant women really love to hear us whine) not get in trouble for saying something that i would get totally jacked up for at any other time?"

As for the OP, i have nothing to add that hasn't already been said quite eloquently; but a great topic.
