How do you discover your real purpose in life? I’m not talking about your job, your daily responsibilities, or even your long-term goals. I mean the real reason why you’re here at all — the very reason you exist.

Nicely plagiarised. How i dislike the copy and paste merchants who cannot read a piece and form their own thoughts into an original piece. Now, how about editing your opening post to attribute the true origin of that whole heap of nonsense?

Go on, you know it's the right and proper thing to do.

Hopefully it's too late for him to edit and his ::cough:: originality will live on for all to see.

Erm, yes. Not an auspicious start, is it?

Busted!  If you are going to quote something, please remember to identify the source honestly.  Geez.

tsatske -> RE: 20 mins to find your true meaning and calling (7/6/2008 5:28:10 PM)

standard protocol is to start a post with some personally written statement, something like, 'i read this and it changed my life! try it and post what you think!'
Then, usually, just post a link. If you can't figure out how to use the linky thing, though - or you want to make slight modifications, like parinthetical comments, you may have to do the cut and paste thing.
always repeat proper credit - just like they taught you in college, MBA style - at the end of you post. Put the authors name, the book it came from, a link if you got it from the web.
He's a newbie, guys, please don't eat him. At least not until someone brings some muckyduck ketchup. where is MstrObjectmaker when you need him? You'd think he had found better things to do, in Florida, than scan these boards and be on hand when we need him....

Yawn.....

I'm with the ladies above this post; not exactly the best start here....

You have to cry?  Geez I am so in trouble...  I laugh, get excited... goose bumps maybe... it's a joy... this crying stuff... well... could it have to do with not knowing and not being sucessful yet or something?  This doesn't work for me!  It is either a deeply joyful thing or already known.  Either I am just too old or hardened or just not smart... cause the crying thing isn't needed to feel something deep and recognize it as such.

And then to say that for anyone it doesn't work for is simply rejecting, not trying, failing in some point... wow... sounds like some religions I know.  One size all doesn't fit!

Yes, you must cry.  Otherwise it's not your true calling, it's your fake calling!

Hehe... Now my mind is all over the place... fake... real... I'm all broke up.

Danner -> RE: 20 mins to find your true meaning and calling (7/6/2008 8:23:00 PM)

wow. and to think I actually did the exercise. and now to find out it has been plagarized.  I feel so used and dirty.

The answer on My blank piece of paper (I swear I didn't steal it):  Family, love, serenity.

Danner -> RE: 20 mins to find your true meaning and calling (7/6/2008 8:27:39 PM)

Do most folks here NOT do the caps thingy. Cuz I would really like to toss it out, but I don't want protocol people chasing (M)my butt down the lane, tar and feathers in hand, along with a few items I really do not want inserted inside me.
someone clue me in, bring me from the land of clueless, release my cap thingy bonds, free at last, free at last, Praise the (insert personal religious dogma here) I'm free at last.

variation30 -> RE: 20 mins to find your true meaning and calling (7/6/2008 8:52:24 PM)

what the hell happened here?

Missokyst -> RE: 20 mins to find your true meaning and calling (7/6/2008 9:18:10 PM)

[:'(]I was highly disappointed after having my tarot cards read one day to discover that my life calling is sacrifice.  I was hoping for wealth and fullfillment.  *sigh*

ResidentSadist -> RE: 20 mins to find your true meaning and calling (7/6/2008 10:04:02 PM)

I got it down to procreate and eventually die. ... I got sorta' weepy, does that count?  I hate that dying thing, it totally fucks with my immortality and I had worked so hard at living life to the fullest.

I mean we are talking a real live sadist here.  I’m not made of stone but I am an awfully self aware guy.  Not much will make me cry.

My true purpose in life is to procreate.  Makes me weepy ‘cause I don’t have kids of my own yet.  I am a great dad.  The children that have passed through my life are forever changed for having known me.  That makes me all weepy too.  That’s about it.

Well, there was that one time in band camp!

Leatherist -> RE: 20 mins to find your true meaning and calling (7/6/2008 11:33:02 PM)

My mother taught me that ages ago.

To be annoying to as many people as possible before I croak off.

I'm a great success so far!

pinkwind -> RE: 20 mins to find your true meaning and calling (7/7/2008 4:08:14 AM)

If you live by the philosophy that your "real purpose in life" exists as one all encompassing entity, and that you can glean it from trying to clear your mind of all distractions apart from fathoming out what your "real purpose in life" is, and then take the first thing that pops in your head and onto a blank page as the answer, you might as well write 42 for all the good it would do you.

What is this "real purpose in life" anyway?

If you yourself can answer that then maybe there would be grounds for a reasonable debate as to the efficacy of the answer, but where it leads us as individuals.
