LadyElizabeth327 -> Good Books? (7/6/2008 6:45:29 PM)

I would like to ask for suggestions on good Female Dominance books.  I am new to the lifestyle and would like to explore further through good literature.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

If you're interested in literature and not textbooks, I'd recommend Laurel K. Hamilton, either the Merry Gentry or the Anita Blake series of books. Good dominant female roles, with plenty of opportunities to debate reactions in your own mind (and some highly unusual circumstances as well).

Yay, another LKH fan!

To the OP, are you looking for fiction or non-fiction?  That info would help narrow the field and get you better answers.

My signature has books listed that are pretty much asexual...but they are worth looking into.

Meh.  Elise Sutton, I suppose.  Make sure you take it with a grain of salt.  Gender roles, either matriarchal or patriarchal, don't do justice to the human psyche.  Yah, I know what my handle suggests and it sounds like a contradiction... it was more an expression of the type of control I'd like in my own home rather than a world view.

I want loving relationship that has submission as part of that expression.... but I'd digressed...

My real suggestion to you is the figure out what it is that you actually want your home to look like and what you really think is enjoyable and feasible.  Take time with this.  You don't want to end up being your sub's bitch by putting on some persona that you didn't really want.  Remember: they are to serve you not the other way around.  Warning: many male subs on here are masochists that want to top from the bottom.  They are not really submissive at all.

I'm reading Schopenhauer's World as Will and Presentation.  Yah, I'm pretentious.  What of it?  :P

What you say about Sutton is true but I did enjoy reading "Female Domination".  Even the barrage of factoids seemingly supporting the view women are on the verge of taking over society.  I think I would have benefited from reading it when I was younger as it illustrates there are some different approaches some of which don't seem threatening to a novice.

I think the difference here is whether someone comes to this for the artistic/acrobatic kink, the cirque du soleil if you will, or more power/service oriented relationships.  As the latter myself, it took a long time see how I fit into this realm.  Sutton functioned for me as a wake up call that the vanilla world was most likely not where I was going to find what I was seeking ultimately.

Both seconded.

Also, I recommend:

The Female Dominant: Games She Plays
by Claudia Varrin

Sex Tips From a Female Dominatrix
by Patricia Payne

The Toybag Guide series (various authors)- a wonderful resource for learning about all kinds of implements!  (added bonus: the books actually do fit in your toybag)

Two Knotty Boys showing You the Ropes... by Two Knotty Boys

And lastly, the books I've yet to acquire (but have heard great reviews):

Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns by Phillip Miller and Molly Devon

The Better Built Bondage Book by Douglas Kent - You can build your own toys/furniture if you're "Miss Fix-It" like Me :)

Hope that helps!

Oh, and...

All of my books have dominant women in them... but they are fiction. If you are starting out you may be better served by non-fiction.
