I've been wondering about birth order and how it effects what we become in relation to lifestyle. I consider myself an only child, although I'm strong I relate to being Sub. How about You?

I'm probably easy to explain psychologically in that regard. I'm a middle child from a large family... Little control as a child, relatively controlling as I've grown older, with the ability to throw hands up and not care at all at times. Probably only makes sense to me, lol. [:)] M

I was the baby of the family, my nearest sibling in age was 8 year's older. Though I grew up as an only child. Between death of a sibling and early marriages with the other two...I was alone with my friends a lot. If anything because of the amount of year's between my siblings and I, it taught me to be a dominant. Yet, I was not born to be one. It was a struggle I did struggle with for many year's. Anway, I believe it was Topcat maybe 2 year's ago asked these same questions. I believe he even made it to some sort of conclusion. You may want to ask him what he came up with.

An "only". beth is a baby. Oh and she is also the youngest child in her family. [;)] Since we can only vote once I hope this information doesn't skew the pole results. My "hard limit" relative to the only child syndrome is that for my entire life I never had one of any pet. It's carried to this day; two cats, two dogs. Curiously enough though only one slave! ummmm[8\|]

I'm first born, female and dominant. I had a brother who is a little less then 2 years older then me. Because of certain circumstances in my family, I had to take charge quite often, as early as the age of 10. - LA

Midear Q.- I am right here<g>. my 'birth order' post I actually didn't come up with a hard conclusion- of course, any generalisation wilts when applied to the specfic- but I di come to feel that oldests were more likely dom, and littlests were more likely sub.... Stay warm, Lawrence

im the oldest of 4 girls, ages 40, 37, 28, 16. i'm very submissive. The second one is totally dominant (although vanilla) and the third one is kind of switchy. The youngest is hard to say.

I am the oldest of four, and I am a submissive ...um... <looks down pants> female. I have a younger sister, 20, (who provided me with my beautiful little niece), a 16 year old brother and a 14 year old brother. Is it sad that I have to look up at both of my little brothers? (The 16 year old is 6' 5" and growing, and the 14 year old is 6' 2" and a linebacker on his school's football team. I think I'd wet myself if I saw either of my brothers running at me with intent to tackle.) I think that a lot of my urge to be submissive comes from the fact that I am very dominant in almost all other aspects of my life, including helping out my family. I have the deep need to relax my control and submit to someone else. It's therapeutic, even if it wasn't ingrained so deeply in me.

Dead center of the family, two above and two below, with five years between me and the oldest, and five between me and the youngest. Dominant-leaning switch. Master, on the other hand, is the baby, but also an only child, since his sibling is 10 years older than He is. He's dominant, but about as laid back as one can possibly get. I have a book on birth order, and it's rather surprising how accurate it is in terms of personalities.

Well My Dad has been married more than once. With his 2nd wife, he had two kids. then with my mom he had me and my lil bro. Then he remaried the 2nd wife and had another son. When my mom remaried I had older step kids but no new siblings. So if we go by my Dad I'm the middle child. If we go my just my mom, I'm the Oldest full blood sibling of my lil bro and two older step siblings. But my mom is divorced from my X step dad so it may not matter. Either way, sibling wise I'm the Dom because I apparently am the one with the most common sense. Two basket cases with issuse and drama, Me, a lil bro who normally does what he's told, and a youngest sibling who has ADD/autisim/mental retardation and has a various range of unpredictable emotions. And they all come to me for advice/help.
