while it's not quite the same thing... there are little flat plastic things that are shaped like a padlock, with numbers printed on them.

They use them at the hospital for various things that have to be restocked after being used. the numbers are all diffrent, so it's possible to tell if they've been taken off.

Anybody here an entrepreneur? I'm a machinist with a fair understanding of computer programming, a remotely operated lockbox would be a snap to manufacture. This seems like a great idea for long distance 'relationships'.
