Flip-flopping......

What does the term mean?....

Mr.Obama has never changed his position on Iraq or about troop withdrawals, in spite of the what neo-cons were whining over.

There are reams of '>video showing  that Obama`s positions and verbiage on Iraq are the same today as they were 16,25,35 months ago, before he anounced.
There was no flip-flop and there`s no tape or transcript showing one.Otherwise we`d have sure seen it.over and over and over again.

Instead,we had McCain saying that Obama was flip-flopping.That it.

Of course ,the McCinytes knew that some people would wittingly or unwitting swallow the BS line. There would be the fake outrage and temper tantrums and demands that Obama take back something he never said.

Lots of dust and smoke and a sexy story, but in the end,a bunch of bullshit.

I know thinking people, even republicans, don`t buy the flip-flop charge.Especially coming from someone who has reversed his position on almost every one of his major issues.

It`s easy to see(from this news conference) that Mr.Obama is well versed and well informed, not just about Iraq and the middle east, but also about the whole picture, like Afghanistan and Pakistan, etc.

I think he`ll make a fine CIC and will address the issues of terrorism and keeping our friends in those regions, our friends. As well as dealing effectively with our enemies there.

I see you got the talking points email, O59...  Progressives shall not in any way support the Republican case that Obama has flip-flopped.   He has always supported a longer timetable for withdraw, at least 16 months.  How long for that to turn into a typo?  "We meant 28 months..."

Why not just say that Obama's campaign is based on change, and he, on his white stallion, is leading the way by changing his positions?

Orwell was talking about you guys, wasn't he?

Funny thing, that.  I popped over to Huffpost to link the article I read at lunch today, and it seems to be gone now.

Obama has always supported winning the war in Iraq.

Edit to add:   I dug a bit deeper, and the piece was still there, just sliding down like a thread moved to Random Stupidity...

Progressives who disagree with Barack Obama but at the same time don't want to help Republicans usher in a third Bush term need to remember ....
1). Go right ahead and disagree with an Obama position or statement -- but disagree on the substance. Don't impute some venal motive. Remember that even when you disagree with him on an issue or policy, Obama shares our progressive values.

That is when someone can't find any really good dirt on "insert name here". Then they carefully go back through every remark the guy ever made in order to find anything that can be considered a change in thinking. At that point they scream "flip flop". They think this will make other people feel "insert name here" is wishy washy and shouldn't get into office.

Both sides do it, but I can't say for sure how effective it is. I have also heard it called "waffeling" but I haven't had breakfast yet, so I am trying to stay away from the food references.

When I was growing up a flip flop was a poorly designed shoe that nobody in their right mind would wear around too much.

Times have changed.

As far as the candidates go...well flip flopping is a requirement it seems to win any election.
